Letter From Tyler Goldade, APC Board Chair
Hello FPCS Families,
The APC is continuing to work towards our ASD response to the FPCS Notice and Demand letter. Below is a reminder for upcoming APC Special Meetings
- 2/24, Friday, @ 5:30pm
- 2/25, Saturday, @ 10:00am
Please note that Friday's time was been corrected as it was previously noticed at 5:00pm.
See the agendas below. You can also reach out to the APC board as a group by emailing apcboard-familypartnership@asdk12.org.
Also, I'd like to remind you that we have an open APC board seat and encourage interested applicants to complete the below application (due by March 2nd). The election process for the open APC parent seat is a little different than regular elections as it will be decided by a majority vote of the APC members. Applications are also open for 2 parent and 2 student seats via our regular election, voted on by our FPCS community. These applications are due March 31st. Thank you for considering to serve in this role.

Student Spotlight-Livia Valenote
Livia Valenote is a 10th grader at FPCS. She has a passion for art! She is empathetic, intuitive, and kind. She volunteers at Birch Grove Therapeutic Riding Center with an equine therapist, working with children and adults with invisible and physical disabilities. She plays guitar and is learning sign language. She is in the National Honor Society, dual enrolled with FPCS and ERHS. She is on the cross-country running and skiing teams. She enjoys cooking big Italian meals, creating art in her own home studio, traveling, hiking, and backpacking. She has been a Girl Scout since the 3rd grade, completing her Bronze and Silver awards. Her troop put together parent care kits for the neonatal intensive care unit and she created a badge to raise awareness about invisible disabilities, specifically dyslexia and ADHD.
Livia has earned an honorable mention for two of her artworks that were submitted to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the nation's longest running and most prestigious art competition, with original works submitted by students in grades 7-12 across the United States. Livia's work will be displayed at the Anchorage Museum March 3 - April 7 along with the ASD Show: YOUR ART, YOUR VOICE. Opening Reception is March 3 from 6-8pm. It is free and open to the public. Livia is a wonderful artist and an even better human being! This is her third year as a homeschooled student. Homeschooling at FPCS has giving her self confidence and self worth. Her organizational skills and learning to work independently has improved vastly allowing her to be a well-rounded academic!

Enrichment News: Frogs, Light, Sound, Coding, & ASL!
This week was filled with more fun enrichment classes. In Frog Dissection, students learned about frogs, dissected them, and competed in a Jeopardy game all about frogs. In
Light, Sound & Coding, students learned the basics of computer programming, gave their robot (their human partner) commands to follow, built LEGO robots, and coded them to do all kinds of things. And in ASL, students learned school signs and learned about ASL classifiers, playing the Elephant Game, a popular game in Deaf culture. Check out these and other wonderful enrichment classes!
