On Tuesday Roy City used our school for a town hall meeting to let residents provide comment on the proposed housing development for the property south of the school. During this discussion the residents mentioned the numbers of parents walking their students across the street from the sidewalk west of the school, and the danger this presents. PLEASE help us keep our families safe and refrain from parking on the west curb (next to the fence line along the canal). Since Midland is currently closed there is a lot less traffic but the danger of someone getting hit by a vehicle is still present. Once construction is complete and the road is open, the city will paint the curb red and post no parking signs.

Please keep up on your emails and social media if possible as these are the first methods of communication with parents.

We are tracking ALL COVID positive cases and at-home exposures as reported to us by parents, staff and the health department.. These are the numbers of reported COVID positive staff and students over the past 7 days. PLEASE remember the mask status may change based on information received from staff, parents and the health department over the weekend.

As we have mentioned multiple times, Bridge is doing everything possible to keep our doors open for kids. Last year the ONLY option was to quarantine an entire class for 10 days when a student tested positive for COVID. This year, students who are exposed to a COVID positive student now have an option - quarantine for 10 days or wear a mask at school.

Students who are exposed to a COVID positive person at home have different options based on vaccination status. Fully vaccinated students can come to school but must wear a mask for 10 days. Unvaccinated students must quarantine at home for five days and then can return to school, with a mask, for five more days. Students who choose not to wear a mask must stay home and quarantine for the full 10 days.

Last year Bridge completed the State's requirement for having an online learning option available. This year, Bridge does NOT have an online learning option; however, students CAN do Imagine Learning reading and math at home to help them stay engaged while home with COVID or on quarantine.

As of this newsletter (Friday afternoon), students in 5th grade are the only class that must either quarantine at home or wear a mask to school. The last day for a mask for 5th grade is Tuesday, February 8.

Earlier this year Roy City donated nine electrostatic sprayers which our teachers use every day in the classroom after school is out. The other day the City donated more sprayers for us to use in the office, special education, and for each kindergarten classroom (previously they shared). We LOVE being part of the Roy community and thank the City for the generous donation!

Title I requires schools provide opportunities for parents to engage with their child's education. Bridge does this through multiple sources:

The Winter 2022 Family Survey is now open. The link to the survey was sent in an email on Wednesday. The survey closes on February 11. The data gathered through these surveys is invaluable at helping us tweak our programs and processes to ensure we are providing a safe, positive and engaging learning environment for all students. Results from the survey are shared through the Weekly Bulletin.

Our Everyday Tree (in the foyer) has a monthly theme. This month the theme is "Kindness". Students have made some beautiful artwork to encourage others to ALWAYS be kind.

Order your yearbooks today! Yearbooks will NOT be sold at the school. They will be delivered to the school and handed to students on the last day of school.

Our 6th grade class have recently been the LUCKY recipients for FOUR guest speakers.

1. Judy Amsel - she sang the song "Dayenu" in Hebrew from the student's read aloud, "Devil's Arithmetic". The song means, "It would be enough."
2. Zach Vigil - local horse trainer
3. Andy Connolly - paleontologist from Utah Museum of Natural History
4. Lt. Colonel Stuart Boyd - Civil Air Patrol

ATTENTION - if you have a sibling of a Bridge student that you want to attend Bridge next school year, you MUST enter them in the lottery. We will run the sibling lottery on February 8 and fill open seats with siblings first. By entering a sibling in the lottery prior to February 8, they are guaranteed a spot for next year. If a sibling is entered AFTER the sibling lottery there is no guarantee a spot will be available for the upcoming school year.

The School LAND Trust program brings tens of millions of dollars annually to meet critical academic needs and enhance and improve academic excellence in Utah public schools. The funds are generated from the earnings on the permanent State School Fund, where revenue from school trust lands is invested. The funds are discretionary for academic instruction and play a vital role in student success.

Each district school in Utah elects a School Community Council (SCC) consisting of parents, teachers, and the principal. Charter Schools have Trust Lands Councils. All councils must have a two-parent member majority.

Each council identifies the focus of the School LAND Trust plan by carefully reviewing school-wide assessment data annually. Plans are developed to improve student academic performance in the identified areas with the annual School LAND Trust program funds. The plans are approved by the council, submitted on this website, and approved by the local school board or chartering entity.

Since we are a personalized learning school teachers are continuously reviewing data and adjusting instruction to meet student needs. Sometimes that instruction uses specialized curriculum a teacher has identified as necessary to help fill a learning gap or teach a specific skill. If you are curious as to WHAT your child's teacher is using as a teaching resource that is above and beyond the primary curriculum, please reach out to them for information.

Bridge Elementary offers FREE lunch for all men and women safety officers and military personnel in uniform. We call this our LUNCH FOR SAFETY program. Please call the office at 801-499-5180 prior to 9 am if you would like to eat lunch with us to ensure our chefs have prepared enough. Lunch is served 11:00 am to 12:45 pm daily. When you arrive at the office just let them know you are at the school to eat free lunch for "Lunch for Safety". You will be provided a free lunch card. If you would like to donate to this program you can donate in the office or using our DONATE icon on our home page.. Each lunch you donate will count as ONE volunteer hour. Thank you for supporting Bridge, our first responders, and military!

A group of girls came to the office with a big request. They would like our school to support the "Valentines for Troops" effort. While participation will be to each teacher's discretion you can certainly participate as a family. Some of our classes and learning pods have decided to have Valentine's Day activities in the classroom. This is NOT a schoolwide event and each grade was allowed to do this at their own discretion. Students are NOT required to participate. If a grade has chosen to distribute Valentine Cards at a grade level, a student can bring just a few to distribute - they are not required to bring one for all 80+ students in the pod. Students will NOT open Valentines during school. They will take their Valentine cards home to open. Using this process, students can bring candy for a Valentine and parents can determine if any candy items should not be eaten by the student.
