Little Lancers Lowdown

Dear Little Elba Lancer Families,

What an amazing start to the school year! Our Little Elba Lancers have been working hard to learn new routines and procedures, as well as learn how to be a Lancer Leader! Our students are following our established classroom, hallway, cafeteria, bus and playground expectations. We have had several students nominated as Lancer Leaders too!

Below you will find a quick video recap of some of our September. The addition of two full-day UPK classes has had a successful start. Our littlest UPK Lancers have learned how to be in school this month by learning how to sit and listen to stories on the carpet, how to eat in the cafeteria, and engage in specials, including PE, Art, Music, Library, and Spanish! It has been great to see their growth in just under a month. Great job UPK!

This year we added Spanish and STEM as enrichment classes for some of our students in UPK through grade 3. Our older students have the opportunity for band and chorus, as well as STEM, Library, Art, Music, Ag, and Technology depending on the grade. We are very excited to be able to offer so many opportunities for our students.

Late this month we offered the opportunity for extracurriculars for our older students! We are excited to see our students succeed in Page Turners, Student Council, Art Club, PBIS Student Committee, and more starting soon!

• Please do not drop off your child prior to 7:25 am, unless your child is eating breakfast in which you can drop off at 7:20 am. Students are not allowed in the building before 7:20 am.

• Please DO NOT get out of your car when dropping off or picking up your child. If you need to help your child get out of the car, you MUST park in the parking lot. Please park in an actual parking spot.

• All students should be dropped off on the passenger side of the car. This is a safety concern.

• Please relay this information to babysitters, grandparents, or anyone else who is dropping off or picking up your child. There have been several instances where people have parked near or in the circle and gotten out of their car.

• Please do not drive around cars. Please wait until the cars in front of you drive away.

• If there are multiple students being picked up, please wait for the last student's time to pick up, or you will have to drive around again.

If you have not yet signed up to volunteer or for your child to participate, please see the Parent Square post from Mrs. Piskorowski, our school nurse.

We will be meeting at the Elba Town Highway Department on Maple Avenue at 7am sharp as we will be starting to walk at 7:10am.

The first week of October marks our Homecoming Week this year. Your child(ren) was sent home with the flyer of dress-up days, which can also be found below.

We would love to see you at the Carnival on Friday, October 6th (students have no school) from 5:30-7:30pm! There will be lots of games and food for our students to enjoy! Several extracurriculars, clubs, classes, and groups are hosting! Come out for a fun night!

The annual Homecoming Parade will be beginning at the Fire Hall at noon, on Saturday, October 7th! Clubs, groups, teams, and others will be walking to the school to lead the way for our Homecoming OAE football game. We hope to see you on the side of South Main Street!

Picture Day is scheduled for Friday, October 13th. Order forms will be sent home closer to the date.

If your child will be absent from school or tardy, please contact the Attendance Office at 585-757-9967 ext. 1241. You can leave a message any time of day or night. A written excuse must be sent when the child returns from an absence. If your child is tardy, please sign your elementary child in at the District Office. If your child will be dismissed early, please provide a note which states the child’s name, time, and the reason for early departure to the elementary office. Elementary students need to be picked up in the District Office. If your child is sent home from school from the Health Office, please park in the front bus loop. Your child will be brought out to you.
