Abernethy's First Day of School!

Welcome Abernethy students and families to our 1st day of school!

The hallways are clean, waiting for students to walk on them. The walls are bare, waiting for student art work to hang on them. The stage is set with instruments, waiting for students to play them. The office is open, waiting to be kept busy.

And most of all, the classrooms are all set up, waiting for students to come fill them!

Tomorrow is the day. The first day of school!

Students can arrive at school at 8:35. We will not be able to have supervision prior to that time. Families, you are welcome to come to school early and supervise your students prior to the 8:35 time stamp. We will be happy to take over when the bell rings!

Students will line up according to the map below. $th and 5th grade students will line up over by the field. Teachers will meet you, in your classroom line, outside of the door closest to Orange St. starting with 4th grade closest to the fence and then 5th grade heading towards the Futsal court.

1st through 3rd grade, you will line up under the covered play area. 1st Grade will line up closest to the Futsal court, third grade in the middle and 2nd grade closest to the turf field.

Kindergarten students, on September 5th, you will meet your teachers outside of your classroom doors no earlier than 8:35.

Families, if you are dropping your student off, meaning not getting out of the car yourself, but rather just your student, please drop off on Elliott St. NOT Orange St.

Pick up will be in the same areas as drop off. Teachers will walk their students outside. Students who take the bus home will walk to the bus, and students who are being picked up can meet their ride outside. The bell will ring at 3;00. If ever you are going to be late, please call the office and we will make sure your student is taken care of until you arrive. Students are not to be left unattended after school, unless they have gone home first and families/caregivers are aware of where they are. There will be no supervision after school once the buses have left.

Change of dismissal plans?

No problem! Just call the office before 2:30 and we will let your student know the about any change.

Sometime this week your student will bring home their Back to School Packet. This is a packet that is full of important information for our year ahead! Please take some time to look over everything and return all necessary forms.

Due to the construction last week, we had moved the Kindergarten Popsicle get together to this Wednesday from 6:00 - 7:00! We are looking froward to seeing all the Kindergarten students and families!

Also, due to the construction, we had to move our Abernethy Welcome Back Picnic to Thursday, Sept 7th, 2023. We are looking forward to seeing all our Abernethy students, families and friends. Bring a blanket, chair, dinner and you summer stories!
