HHS JROTC Raiders are National Champions!
Over 4,000 cadets competed at Fort Knox Kentucky over the weekend. Hobart’s mixed male and female division had 66 of the top teams representing schools across the country. This journey started in JUNE with 30 cadets at 6am practices all summer. It ended the first weekend in November when our own Brickie Raiders earned their way to top in the nation.
For nearly 6 months these Raiders have trained, sweated and persevered through the harshest climates and terrain to become CHAMPIONS. Seniors Zoe Stout, Emma Stout, Liam Garcia; Juniors Jesse Elieff, Makenna Rotz, Nicholas Molchan, Alphonse Parker, Roxane Dominguez; Sophomores Kole Ketchum, Cedric Ramos, Yariel Rivera, Danielle Gawrysiak, Aalliah Otero; and Freshmen Evan Harness and Rebecca Roediger, competed for over 12 hours to secure the victory.
Throughout the day the Raiders ran five different courses totaling over 6 miles of hill, mountain and river. Besides winning the overall championship, Hobart earned individual event awards in all five events. The team earned event national championships in the Cross Country Rescue and the Gauntlet. Both events are mile long obstacle courses through the woods and across rivers. In the cross country rescue event, cadets carry forty pound rucksacks and a simulated casualty on a litter.
The Brickie Raiders were event national runner-up in the Physical Team Test (PTT) and 5K mountain run. The PTT is a mile long route through the woods carrying equipment. The 5K run is 3.1 miles of grueling terrain up and down steep embankments that required rope to ascend and descend as well as running through two river crossings.
Finally, they had to cross a hundred-foot wide river using two trees, a long rope and a few carabiners. Ten cadets constructed the rope bridge, crossed the river and recovered the rope on the other side in under three minutes!
SHOUT OUT to everyone who competed, traveled and supported the team this season. Congratulations to all of the Raiders on their magnificent season. We are so proud of how the cadets have pushed themselves to the pinnacle of their sport!

School Bus Safety!
It is important, for the safety of our children, to be aware of our school buses.
The stop arm and blinking lights mean “STOP”. To disregard the stop arm is a misdemeanor and mandatory court appearance. The Hobart Police Department has shared that law allows the police to use the bus driver’s observations to issue a citation to the registered owner of the vehicle.
Our ultimate goal is a safe commute for children to and from school.
