Muffins for Moms- CANCELED
PTA has canceled the Muffins for Moms event scheduled for May 12th. Sorry for the inconvenience.
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time our school recognizes the contributions and celebrate the many diverse and vibrant cultures of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. According to the Georgia State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs there are people from approximately 42 different nations across Asia and the Pacific Islands in our state. These cultures are part of the fabric that make our district and school one of the most diverse in the state — a strength we embrace and weave into the culture of our school and the education of our scholars.
If your child would like to share personal or researched information on Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage on the morning announcements, please have them share what information they would like to present by completing the google form below. Presentations need to be limited to 2 minutes. We are excited to highlight some of our students as we celebrate the Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage!
Principal Selection Survey for Parsons
Please take the time to complete the survey in the attached letter. GCPS would love your input when they select the next principal of Parsons Elementary.
Beginning May 10th, we will pop a balloon each morning on the morning
announcements revealing a fun, summer countdown activity for our students the
following day. To give you a heads up…I am secretly revealing the Mystery
Fun to you. Shhhh…please keep it a secret from the students so they will hear when the

There will be an informational meeting for parents while students get to visit a kindergarten classroom. There will also be a school tour and a short ride on a school bus.
In order to attend, you must have completed registration for your rising kindergarten student. Kindergarten Registration is still taking place online. Visit our Parsons ES Kindergarten Registration page for more details. Once registered, you are welcome to attend KinderCub Day.
Are You Interested in Play 2 Learn?
Did you know that 80% of the brain is developed by age 3, and that 90% of the brain is developed by age 5? Here at Parsons, we are offering the Play 2 Learn Program because we want all of our baby lions roaring and ready for kindergarten. If you have a child ages 0-5 who is not already attending preschool, consider participating in this wonderful program. Students and their caregivers sing, dance, play and LEARN alongside a certified teacher every Friday morning and afternoon. Classes for the 2023-2024 are filling up quickly, so reach out to Mrs. Elise Sheppard if you'd like to learn more or wish to be a part of this amazing program. You can email her at elise.sheppard@gcpsk12.org
GCPS Chromebook Plan
With the end of the year testing and Chromebook collection approaching, we are asking that all Chromebooks remain at school beginning Friday, April 21st. Chromebooks will no longer be available for students to take home to assure that devices are ready for testing and to ensure that end of the year device processes can take place.
If your child has their GCPS Chromebook, charger, or laptop bag (3rd-5th) at home, please make sure that it is returned to the school by April 21st. Devices will remain in classrooms for the remainder of the school year.
Fifth-grade devices will be collected. Devices (Kindergarten - 4th grade) will be renewed for the following school year and stored at Parsons for summer learning and the upcoming school year. All devices (K-5th) will be assessed for damage upon return and fines may be assigned based on the fee schedule provided at the beginning of the year, currently available on the parent and student support sites. If a device is returned in good condition, no fine will be assigned. Chromebooks will be deactivated and fines for replacing the device will be assigned if a device, charger, or bag is not returned.

As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. Our AKS at Home project provides math and language arts resources to support families of children in grades K-5 so that they truly are partners in their children’s learning. This support is available for families to access in the format that suits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information, and gain tools and suggestions on how to best help their children through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics. Does your child need help with a subject at school?
In partnership with the Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL), GCPS provides Tutor.com as an online tutoring resource for students. The expert tutors at Tutor.com can help your student work through a tough homework problem, improve writing skills, study for a test, review a difficult concept, and so much more! Live tutoring support is available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, students can receive “drop-off support,” 24-7, by uploading a document for tutor feedback that will be reviewed and returned at a later time. To learn more about how to access this resource and what is offered, click here.
