A Note from the Principal
It is hard to believe that the school year is nearly at its end. It has been a pleasure working with the students and families of HMS for the past two years. I am so proud of our HMS students for their hard work, dedication to school, and incredible perseverance. Although I will not be returning to HMS next year, I know that the HMS students and families will be in great hands with our new principal, Bess Colpron. Mr. Millay (caleb.millay@hocksd.org) and Mrs. Colpron (bess.colpron@hocksd.org) are here to support all students and families, so please do not hesitate to reach out to either of them with any questions or ideas.
I wish you all a wonderful summer vacation and look forward to seeing our students back for their final day on Tuesday!
Thank you for your support!
~ Meredith

HMS Orientation will be held on August 29 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. At orientation, 7th and 8th grade students can pick up their schedule, have their school photo taken and get their school ID, purchase an ASB card, and tour the school. We hope to see you there! School begins for all HMS students on August 30. HMS will host a fall Open House for parents on September 5 at 6 p.m.

Chromebook Return and FAQs
Our secondary students are preparing to take their Chromebooks home for the summer. Here are a few tips and FAQs to help with this transition.
FAQ’s
Is the Chromebook filtered?
Yes. All of our Chromebooks filter the internet, regardless of if students are on or off campus.
What if my student won’t attend a Hockinson School next year?
Please turn your Chromebook and charger in to your school Media Tech in the library. If plans change over the summer, please drop off the device and charger at the district office as soon as possible, 17912 NE 159th St, Brush Prairie, WA 98606.
What if my student's Chromebook gets damaged over the summer?
You may bring your broken Chromebook to the district office. Your Chromebook will be repaired over the summer and will be ready for checkout at August school orientation. Also note that the 2022-23 Hockinson Assurance Program has been extended for enrolled students; it is now effective from August 2022 school orientation to August 2023 school orientation, which covers the summer months. We will open Assurance enrollment again in the fall. To learn more about the assurance program go here.
Already have a device for your student at home?
These district Chromebooks provide a good alternative to personal or shared devices as they are filtered. District Chromebooks are necessary for the classroom, as they are compatible with classroom curriculum, tools, and testing.
Planning on keeping the Chromebook turned off for the summer?
For the best battery health, please charge the device before powering it down and storing it in a safe location.
