Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
We have less than 2 weeks left of the quad! Keep attending classes, keep completing and turning in work, and keep reaching out to your teachers when you have questions or concerns!
There has been a significant amount of information released from the state of Oregon over the past several weeks, leading to many more questions and confusion. Please know you can always reach out to me directly with questions, concerns, suggestions, etc. I know how confusing and frustrating all of this information can be.
I would like to review some things we do know right now:
- GBSD currently does NOT meet the recommended metrics for returning to in-person instruction.
- East county COVID rates are much higher than the rest of Multnomah County
- The district has been getting buildings ready for a return to in-person instruction. This includes adjusting classrooms to adhere to social distancing requirements, updating signage, and ensuring proper air flow throughout the building and in all classrooms.
- The governor will be releasing updated guidance next week that may impact the recommended metrics.
- As schools begin to open, students/families will have the option to remain in "distance learning" for the remainder of the school year.
- At the high school level, it is most likely we will start with "Limited In-Person Instruction" first: which means small numbers of students coming into the building based on district-determined eligibility requirements.
- The district will be releasing additional information over the next few weeks.
Again, I want to emphasize: please reach out to me with questions or concerns. Things are moving quickly and information can change day-to-day. We are here to support you.
Stay safe and take care,
Ryan Blaszak

Attention Fred Meyer Shoppers
Springwater Trail High School is enrolled in the Fred Meyer Community Rewards program! Please link your Fred Meyer rewards card with our nonprofit number MU443. Fred Meyers will donate a percentage of your purchases every quarter to our program. This will NOT affect your reward points or fuel points. Last quarter we received $78.49, every little bit helps. This program helps pay for transportation to allow our students to attend events in the community. Below is the link to sign up.
Distance Learning Strategies
- Post a schedule of your classes close to your computer
- Set reminders for your classes on your phone / chromebook
- Find a quiet place to participate in Google Classroom meetings. (We understand this can be extremely challenging when everyone is stuck at home!)
- Work with family members to minimize disruptions during live class sessions.
- Remember engagement and communication are more critical than ever during distance learning. Communication is about human connection, understanding, and community: all of which are priorities for us and part of the reason you chose to attend Springwater!
- It can take time to become comfortable turning your camera on and there are other ways to show you are engaged. Below are some ways to communicate and engage during live class sessions:
-------> * Use your microphone to ask and answer questions.
-------> * Use the chat feature to ask questions and get clarification.
-------> * Let your teacher know (through the chat) if you have to step away from your computer for a moment.
