Chapel
Pastor Chris Motes spoke at our chapel this week. Since we are in the midst of harvest time, Pastor Chris related that theme to a Bible verse. Jesus talked about a harvest of people who need the Lord. Matthew 9:37 says, "Then, he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.'"
Tuesday was Historical Figure Day at Ascension Academy. Pastor Chris dressed up as Cyrus McCormick. Cyrus invented the mechanical reaper, which helped farmers greatly increase their crop size.
Pastor Chris shared that he had a couple of friends who had such a huge harvest this year that they asked for help because they had a plentiful harvest, as the verse speaks about, but not enough workers to reap the entire harvest. We do not want to miss opportunities to share our faith with people we know because God might use us to share the truth about the gospel with someone ready to hear and accept.
Next week, Pastor Dennis Wright will be speaking at our chapel. Pastor Dennis is a retired pastor and missionary who formerly pastored Northern Lakes Church. Chapel is at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday. You are invited and welcome to attend.

Bible Class
This week, your family will study chapters 1-15 of Proverbs.
Proverbs are concise wisdom sayings that share a general truth about life, God, and the world
around us. We have many proverbs in Western culture, such as “Don’t put the cart before the
horse,” “The early bird gets the worm,” and “The squeaky wheel gets the grease.” These
sayings help us to live discerningly. Proverbs are not a promise or a command—they are just
general truths. While we can look to the biblical book of Proverbs to help us develop a wise
attitude toward life, we must read the book of Proverbs alongside the other wisdom books,
such as Job and Ecclesiastes, to really understand God’s sovereignty in the affairs of men.
