MES Soaring to Success
Principal weekly update
Good afternoon parents!
This coming Friday (October 13th) is our rescheduled Walk for Kindness. The Kindness Walk is being sponsored by the PTO. Beginning at 1:30 students will march around the fields with their class banners they made and help spread kindness through their walk. I hear there might even be a dance performance by the teachers! If you plan on taking your child home at the end of the Kindness Walk, that day please email the classroom teacher and Mrs. Winter to tell them in advance. Each teacher will have a sign out sheet for you to sign out when you are leaving. Thank you for your cooperation with this! KEEP GOOD THOUGHTS FOR NICE WEATHER!
Thank you to the PTO for decorating the school so beautifully!! Above is one of the many areas that has been decorated. Come to the Kindness Walk and you will see the beautiful ways they decorated the grounds!
Attendance is so important to your child's growth and development both academically and socially!! Please try not to schedule vacations during the school week. It is very difficult to have students come back after and catch them up. We do appreciate all of you that have them do work during a vacation but it is not the same as them being in class with teachers instructing them. Thank you for helping us make the most of every day in school!
This year, open house will be on Thursday October 12th. There will be two sessions one at 6:00 and one at 6:40. Some teachers prefer to have sign up sheets for their sessions and some do not. If your child's teacher prefers a sign up sheet, they will have sent it out by Friday, October 6th. If you do not get one by Friday, you may attend either session. Please don't forget to visit the cafeteria where many community organizations will be available to share their services and offerings with you!!
One last note: I would like to start hosting monthly coffee hours for parents here in the Flanders room. I will have coffee and treats available and we would have a focus topic but also some time for Q & A. The first one will be held Friday, November 3rd from 9-10 am. Mrs. Schiavo (math instructional leader) and Mrs. Fitzpatrick (ELA instructional leader) will be there to discuss the scores of the diagnostic testing that will be going home the end of October. Please join me that day!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
