Hi all,
Thank you to everyone who came to the parent meeting last night! We had such a great turnout and Coach Makenna and I loved meeting all the new parents. If we didn't get to officially meet you yesterday don't worry-we'll have time throughout the season to connect.
Let's do a quick recap of the parent meeting:
1) Welcome to PHSFH officially! If you are a new family, you are entering a program of continued greatness. We are consistently among the top finishing programs at the end of the season with last year being ranked 4th in Open Division playoffs. We're excited to continue the tradition this season. Please also remember you now represent Poway Field Hockey at our games; we are a well behaved group towards competition and officials. Let's keep it that way!
2) Fair Share - at the parent night our Treasurer went over what it takes to keep this program alive and well - donations. We handed out registration forms including the suggested donation amount per player. We would like to collect these donations by Wednesday 08/30. These are donations that can be handed directly to me at practices throughout the week. We also reiterated there are payment options to help if this donation amount is too much at once. Obviously, we love 100% participation but we are an understanding group. You can reach out to me, or to our treasurer about these options. Please don't be a stranger!
3) Fundraising - Hopefully everyone was able to get Save The Date flyers including:
Wednesday Sept 6th - Chicken Charlie's fundraiser
Tuesday Sept 26th - Start of butter braids fundraiser (ends Tuesday Oct 10th, pickup on Wednesday November 1st)
4) Volunteering - all volunteering links are down below for timekeeping/scorekeeping + pasta parties + tournaments, but for our first game I'd like as many new parents as possible coming to our first home game on Wednesday August 30th so we can give a tutorial on scorekeeping. More details on that to come in my next scheduled newsletter.
5) Team Store! I received the link yesterday. It is down below. The online store will remain open through Wednesday 09/06 at 11:59pm. Order fulfillment will be the week of October 4th (invest in sweaters!).
That covers our parent meeting. A few urgent reminders:
1) Our game against CCA is cancelled. New opponent and date to be added to the game schedule in my next scheduled newsletter. Practice on Friday is 4:30-6:00pm on the turf.
2) Practice tonight is 7:15-8:30pm on the turf. It is shortened because of field availability due to the freshman football game.
