Dear OLL Families,
I hope this email finds you well as we approach the season of Lent. We will be marking the beginning of this solemn period with an Ash Wednesday Mass at our school on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. We encourage all families to join us in this meaningful service as we reflect on the significance of Lent and its spiritual importance. Your presence will contribute to the sense of community and reflection during this sacred time.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you about the importance of submitting your child's registration payment for the upcoming academic year. Your prompt payment helps us plan effectively for the upcoming school year, ensuring that we can provide the best educational experience for all our students. If you have any questions or concerns about the registration process, please do not hesitate to contact our school office.
On a lighter note, as Valentine's Day approaches, we at OLL want to wish you all a happy and love-filled celebration. Our Lady of the Lake School is grateful for the continued support and dedication of our wonderful parents, and we hope your Valentine's Day is filled with joy and warmth.

Re: B6T Application for Private School Transportation Academic Year 2024-2025
Aid-in-Lieu of Transportation (AIL) is available to New Jersey families if the town they reside in would have provided bus transportation for their student(s) if they attended the local public school. The reimbursement is approximately $1,000.00 and remitted twice for the academic year; in January and June.
To qualify for AIL, you must meet a distance criteria and complete and submit the B6T form. Students in grades K-8 must live at least 2.0 miles but no farther than 20 miles from OLL.
If you meet the distance requirement, complete the form on the next two pages and return it to the campus where your student will attend OLL for the 2024-2025 academic year marked, Attention: Transportation.
Please submit the form as soon as possible but no later than Friday, February 24.

It is amazing how many “time saving” gadgets and methods we have. When we compare the work involved in preparing an ordinary meal 100 years compared with today, it is possible to wonder how things ever got done. To bring the oven to temperature, you didn’t get to turn a knob. Before you could begin to cook, you had to build a fire. Before you could build a fire, you had to chop wood. Once that task was completed, you had to begin everything from scratch. There were no blenders, microwaves, etc. Everything took so much time. We are certainly blessed in that regard. You’d think with all these modern conveniences and advances in technology, we would be just lounging around with so much free time. Nope, not the case at all. We have found more things that we “need” to do and we fill the gaps trying to do more.
Our response to Psalm 32 at Mass this weekend is “I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble, and you fill me with the joy of salvation.” It is a great comfort to know that Jesus is with us in those dire moments of our life. He gently leads us and guides us along the way to eternal life. But is that the only time that we turn to Him? Sadly, we are often too busy with our own plans that the Lord is relegated to solve our problems. Then, we feel our prayers were not answered by God, He not only doesn’t love and care for us, but that He doesn’t exist.
As we begin the season of Lent this week, rather than giving up things, how about trying to spend some time with Jesus when you are not in trouble. Imagine if we used all the time that we have saved with modern conveniences to sit with the Lord for 10 minutes each day. In this time of communion with the Creator, you could listen to what His plan is for you during the day. With this as the basis of what you need to accomplish, you’d be less likely to find yourself in trouble. You would see that it really is His desire to fill you with the joy of salvation. If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. If you want joy in your life, follow His!
