Having a Blast with Bubbles
Dear Center Community,
Another exciting and enriching week at Center. The Discovery Museum set up shop at Center this week providing engaging and interactive presentations to our K-2 students. Kindergarten students had a blast with bubbles. First grade students engaged in high touch, high tech activities and our second grade students learned about various stones and were able to bring home some treasures they found while sifting through soil. These programs were available due to your generosity and support of our fundraising efforts, THANK YOU!
We celebrated 100 days of learning in some fun and creative ways. Please check out the banner in the lobby, created by Ms. Lam and Dr. Hanewich's class. One class talked about how they would spend $100. One clever second-grade student said he would invest it and make more :) and another names 4 places she would donate it to. Ask your student how they celebrated. Our K friends will be celebrating the 100th day on Monday as they started school a day later.
PBIS Pride Ticket Buckets
Congratulations to Grade 1 for having the most PRIDE tickets in their bucket for the month of January! Grade 2 and 3 were runner ups! The buckets are empty again; Center staff, please keep encouraging and giving out PRIDE tickets to students and we look forward to having another winner during the month of February! Parents, please check in with your student(s) and ask them about how they can earn a PRIDE ticket.
Valentines Day reminder:
No food or candy is allowed at classroom parties or on Valentine's cards, per the health policy. Refreshments in classrooms are allowed occasionally if they are related to the curriculum and approved by our nurse.
Be sure to let your kind shine on Monday for our monthly spirit day. We look forward to seeing so many of you on Tuesday for our sold-out BINGLOW family night. Thank you to Center staff members who have offered up fun prizes.
Have a good week.
Warm Regards,
Dianna and Donna

Counselor's Corner
Dear Center Families,
I want to share with you an article called, “How to Discipline Your Child: 6 Ways That Work”, from Dr Becky Kennedy, Clinical Psychologist and her Good Enough blog/website. Dr. Becky believes that effective discipline isn’t about punishing kids to correct “bad” behavior. It’s about teaching kids the skills they need to improve behavior in the first place. She offers realistic tips for teaching our children skills to better self-regulate and manage big feelings while staying connected. I hope you find her article interesting and helpful!

Our students social and emotional well-being are in great hands with Ms. Lallas, Dr. Leary, and Ms. DeAngelis. We thank them for their tireless efforts to meet all the needs of our students. Please give them a shout out of thanks when you see them.

As we enter the month of February, we are delighted to join in the celebration of Black History Month. This annual observance is an opportunity for us to reflect on and honor the incredible contributions of African Americans throughout history. Each week in February we will highlight a book recognizing the accomplishments of African Americans.
Gwendolyn Brooks was the first African American to receive a Pulitzer Prize for Literature. She was well known for her poetry. Check out one of her poems below; perfect for a cold February.
