Happy Springtime! 🌸 Here at AVA, we continue to learn together by noticing what matters to students, posing meaningful questions, making sense of our world, and working to transform it. As you know, we value a real love of learning, curiosity, experimentation, our community, integrity, sustainability, and inclusion. Enjoy our latest newsletter, and have a wonderful Spring Break!

Our next school-wide field trip will be to the Exploratorium, located in San Francisco, on Thursday, April 13 from 8 AM - 3 PM. We are super excited to share this incredible experience together! Please reach out to you classroom teacher for details.

In Monterey County, more than 45% of adults have prediabetes or type 2 diabetes and, alarmingly, children are being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at an increasing rate. Don’t Feed the Diabetes and Aspire Health helps keep our community informed with local resources and programs to help prevent or manage type 2 diabetes.

Take this opportunity to:

1. Learn what is prediabetes and diabetes.
2. Take the “Are you at risk for type 2 diabetes?” assessment test.
3. Check out our local Health and Wellness Resources.
4. Check out the presentation from Blue Zones Project school-wide virtual assembly on 3/17/23.

Together, we can work together to make better choices for healthier living in Monterey County.
