From the Principal's Desk
Dear Eagle Academy School Parents,
I would like to pause and thank you for your continued support of our staff and students in my absence last week. I truly appreciate your help and understanding. My family and I are grateful for you! After 91 days on the transplant list and miles of separation from each other, it finally happened! My husband underwent a heart transplant at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina on September 21, 2023. His recovery continues to be a phenomenal experience in the eyes of his care team and the medical professionals and other staff at Duke University Hospital. Thank you for being kind and granting much grace to me and our staff!
Again, I am so elated to be a part of this Extraordinary Eagle family!
Your Principal,
Lynn Mills

Hit The Trail at Trailside
Let's hit the trail on October 7th! There will be a contest to see which ASD elementary school has the most participation (besides Trailside) and that school will receive $250 from our PTA to purchase needed P.E. equipment. They will fill out a form we create with their order, a P.E. teacher and principal signature and we'll order and purchase for them and have it delivered. A small poster and explanation letter about this will also be sent to every ASD elementary school P.E. teacher soon.
Let's support them as we would like to eventually do the same here at Eagle Academy Charter School soon!

Volunteer for School Lunch Tables Repair
Any one interested in obtaining a few volunteer hours? Our lunch tables need some help to be safe and sanitary for our students and staff. Please contact the front office to let us know if you are willing to tackle this job for us!
Attendance Matters
Every Day Matters
A missed school day (whether excused or unexcused) is a lost opportunity for students to learn. Daily attendance makes a huge difference in student academic achievement.
October 3 - October 28 is the official 20 day Oasis count period. Attendance during this period determines our Average Daily Membership (.i.e student enrollment). This is the number the State of Alaska uses to determine our funding. We realize that some absences are unavoidable, however if at all possible, we encourage families to please try not to schedule optional/elective doctors appointments, vacations, or out of state travel during this period.
Why attendance Matters:
National Hispanic Heritage Month
SEPT 15 - OCT 15
According to the 2020 National Census, an estimated 18.7% of the American population identified as Hispanic/Latino. That is 62.1 million people, an increase from 50.5 million people in 2010, which equates to a huge 23% jump. The contributions of Americans of Hispanic and/or Latino heritage should be recognized and celebrated all year long—their history is our shared American history.

Wonderful 5th Grade Students Opportunity
- Great news! UAA has partnered with ASD to provide a fantastic opportunity to your students in 5th grade. UAA will host Cal State Maritime for an 11 am tip off on November 3rd at the Alaska Airline Center! Their adjusted tip-off time was established so our students could attend. We want all 5th grade students to have the opportunity to attend this UAA event and hope that it can become an annual occurrence. We hope this is the first entry in fabulous partnership with UAA. More information coming...
