Talking Points App
Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools is excited to introduce a new texting tool that will help families connect better with their schools and teachers. We heard in our communication survey that text messages are the preferred communication method to receive information from GJPS and to support this feedback, we are expanding our district use of TalkingPoints to all staff and families.
TalkingPoints is a texting platform that allows families to receive the messaging as a text or through the TalkingPoints app. It also provides instant access to the messages in more than 150 languages. For families who choose to receive TalkingPoint communication straight to your text inbox, you will need to save the text numbers separately so you know who they are from. Otherwise, we encourage you to download the TalkingPoints for Parents mobile app in the app store on your iPhone or Android for additional features. More information about accessing messages can be found on our GJPS District website.
You will be receiving text messages from the District, your principal, and teachers in the coming weeks so please be on the lookout!

Family Directory **PLEASE READ**
Our PTA is working on creating a family directory to share. This directory could be used for families to connect outside of school for playdates, birthday parties, etc. Information in the directory will include;
- Student Name
- Parent(s) Names
- Mailing Address
- Parent(s) Phone Numbers
- Parent(s) Email Address
- Grade Level/Teacher
Everyone was asked when doing their parent update in Infinite Campus this year if they wanted to be a part of the directory. If you checked, "yes", your child's information will be shared. If you checked, "no", your child's information will not be included.
If you have changed your mind and DO NOT want your information shared, please email Mrs. Carr at carrc@gjps.org by December 1st and we will take you off the list.

Gifted Visual and Performing Arts Referral Process
Each year school districts in Ohio are required to offer an opportunity for students in grades K-12 to be identified as gifted in the area of Visual and Performing Arts. The identified areas of giftedness for Visual and Performing Arts include Visual Arts, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Drama/Theater, and Dance. If you know of a student that may be gifted in an area of the Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) and would like for them to be screened for possible gifted identification in that particular area, please complete the Visual and Performing Arts Nomination Form.
Click here to learn more about the two-phase VPA gifted identification process.
Nominations will be accepted until noon on Monday, November 20, 2023, and will only be accepted using the Google link above.
If you have any questions, please contact Colleen Boyle at gjpsgifted@gjps.org.

Caught Showing PRIDE
Congratulations to our students who were "caught" showing PRIDE. Students show PRIDE by being SAFE, KIND, and RESPONSIBLE. Our goal is to fill up this board before Winter Break. Let's do this!
Chess Club
Students of all grades and levels are welcome to come learn the storied game of chess.
Candidate Master Instructor Kyle Jones will provide students with the opportunity to learn
chess history, world champion openings, solve middle game puzzles, practice endgame
patterns, and utilize the necessary tools for tournament play. Each week, students will learn at
least one theme on the display board, practice and create their own positions using that theme,
and then engage in a tournament game against another student. All students will be able to
earn prizes for their hard work.
Please click on the flyer below for more information and to sign up.
Traffic and Playground Update
- Traffic was hectic this morning as parents who attended Donuts with Grown Ups were exiting the parking lot. Thank you for your patience. When we have morning events, please do not worry about your child being late getting in, they will not be marked tardy if they get in after 8:00 am.
- Please do not drop off your child in the front crosswalk area or park in the crosswalk at the end of the day. We have students crossing the street there and it makes it unsafe.
- We know that students in the neighborhood play on the playground after school hours. Obviously there is not adult supervision at this time. If something occurs or is seen that is unsafe, we encourage families to report this to the Gahanna Police and let us know as well. Thank you for your help.
Shop With A Cop
Lions Locker is once again partnering with Meijer and Gahanna Police to bring you the 8th-Annual Shop with a Cop event this December. This event helps Gahanna families in need each year. Lions Locker is always in need of donations (the entire event is funded by donations). If anyone would like to write a check, checks payable "Gahanna Lincoln High School", memo: Shop with a Cop. We also have a GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/lionslockerpantry
