Happy Holidays Mustang families!

It's hard to believe that we're in December already! With December (or November in our case) comes cold and snowy weather. As we start our journey into winter, we'd like to remind you that ALL students go outside for recess, so please make sure students are prepared for the cold weather. The temperature must fall below 20 degrees (actual or windchill) before we determine there is indoor recess. This is on p. 23 of the PHM student handbook.

Winter gear should include coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and snow gear if necessary. We cannot keep students inside unless we have a doctor's note with specifications on how many days they should remain inside.

Let me thank all of you who have emailed me regarding upcoming family vacation dates. Please remember that those must be approved in advance in order to be excused. For daily absences, please continue to email maryfrankattendance.k12.in.us.

Winter Break

As the weather quickly shifts from fall to winter, the school district is happy to pilot free fitness opportunities for the P-H-M community. This will take place four (4) days per week at the sites listed below.

Who is eligible to participate: The P-H-M Adult Community and Staff (no students). This includes residents of the school district and non-resident parents/guardians of attending students.

What: Access to walking/jogging tracks, open gym/basketball courts, and weight room

When: Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at the sites listed below. Note: The fitness centers will be closed during designated school recess dates.

As part of the new Indiana law HB-1093, schools are limited to three days of eLearning. Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation will use, if warranted, three weather-related days as needed throughout the year. If additional makeup days are required, they will be added to the end of the school year calendar beginning on June 2. Parents will be sent any eLearning expectations and possible calendar adjustments throughout the year.

Upcoming Give-Back Fundraiser

For our December give back event we are partnering with Five Below in Mishawaka. The event runs from December 4th – December 18th. All purchases made will give 10% back to Mary Frank PTO. A flyer will be sent home with students.

Popcorn Fridays!

The next Popcorn Friday ($2) is Friday, December 2nd.

Holiday Cookie Exchange

Mary Frank PTO with the help from our families will be hosting a cookie exchange for our teachers and staff. Please send in store bought cookies or bakery items. They can be from your favorite local bakery or the grocery store. We will then set up a cookie exchange for the staff. Each staff member will be given a box to fill with goodies! All donations will need to be dropped off to the office December 13-15.
