CVU Celebrations
March 10, 2023
Dear CVU Community, As we close with the tradition of our Friday Celebrations, we recognize this was a difficult week for many of our students, staff, and community members. We move forward, as we must, but we do so while holding space in our hearts for loss and for the moments of community, care, and love so apparent in these past two weeks. Students, know we are here and that our support will continue. We are with you.

How did Taylor manage to toast and spread perfect orange marmalade in the hall!? I can't even remember the last time I saw marmalade. And, the more I type it, the stranger that word sounds. Marmalade, marmalade, marmalade....I need to stop.
Members of the CVU Choirs performed for all 7th and 8th grade students this morning at Shelburne Community School. The concert featured many student soloists as well as a few student pianists. It was a great opportunity to share our music with future CVU students and practice for our upcoming concert on Thursday, March 16 at 7:00 pm in the CVU Theater.
ROC (Rooted in Organizing Community) held an annual personal products drive. Thanks for all the support from our CVU Community….a special thanks to Fairbanks House, which collected the most items. You will find these items available through the CVU food shelf.
Heather Hayes, mother to Avery Myott and founder of Stroll Runner (www.strollrunner.com), spoke with the R2 Principles of Business class before February break. Heather shared her story of noticing a problem, creating a solution, going through research and development, taking the risk to pitch at a competition, winning the competition, getting a patent….OH MY. What a wonderful example of the Vermont Entrepreneurial mindset! Thank you, Heather.
Faculty/Staff Celebrations
There aren't enough thank-yous for our Direction Center team, Howard clinicians, and therapy dog providers. A special shout out to Ry Hoffman who led us with strength, kindness, and wisdom.
Not only did Charlie MacFadyen lead the way on conference scheduling (with Carly Rivard), but he helped provide the coolest CVU shirts in recent memory!
Peter Booth (and the RISE team) live streamed sign up instructions today (thank you, Gary and Ken). Peter demonstrates how to sign up in this screenshot!
CVU School Counselor Podcast
Today's episode started out as an opportunity to provide some guidance and support to our LGBTQ+ identifying community as they embark on their college search process. We wanted to give clarity to the LGBTQ college-bound community in regards to how to choose a college campus that feels safe, meets their needs, and is representative of their identity. However, we quickly learned that the lessons learned in this podcast are common amongst all students, and when visiting college campuses, visitors should feel welcomed to ask questions that are important or affirming to them and to chase their values.
