Seniors who have their photos taken by an outside photographer should follow these instructions to submit their photo for the yearbook:

SAVE YOUR PHOTO as Last Name, First Name (i.e. Franchino, Rob). This is very important.

Then:

• Log on to: images.jostens.com
• Browse your device to select the photo you wish to upload.
• Enter information about the photo and contact information, in case the staff needs additional information.
• Click "Upload Chosen Images"

It's that easy!

Deadline to submit senior photos is NOVEMBER 10th, 2023.

Wednesday is our final home game of the season and it’s a 4:30 kickoff. Head over to Jersey Mike’s in Apple Valley to grab a sandwich before the game or stop in on your way home afterward.

The Eastview Girls Swim & Dive Team will be holding a fundraiser at Nautical Bowls in Apple Valley on Monday, October 30th from 3:30-7:30pm. Mention Eastview Swim & Dive, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the team. Please stop by and support the team!

Graduations ads are full-color, congratulatory messages to graduating seniors from their families. They include the student's name, a baby picture, and a short message.

Families are given the opportunity to purchase a Senior Graduation Advertisement for $50.00. We accept ads and ad content through online submission only. Grad Ad submissions are due on February 1, 2024.

Save the Date: Paying for College Night – Monday, October 23rd at 6:30pm in Performing Arts Center

“Paying for College - An Introduction to Financial Aid and the College Decision Process” with Chris George, the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at St. Olaf College, will be held the evening of Monday, October 23rd at 6:30pm in the Performing Arts Center.

This will be a one-hour presentation on how financial aid is determined, the financial aid application process, sources of financial support, borrowing, and private scholarships.

Class of 2024: Mark your calendars! Join us on Tuesday, October 24th from 7:30am-3:00pm in the Learning Commons for our annual College Application Planning Workshop!

Visit during your study hall...or any other hour to get help with:

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has typically been available on October 1. Due to changes to the FAFSA this year, FAFSA will not be available to students until December 2023.

More information regarding FAFSA changes and timelines can be found at this link.

Need help understanding the financial aid options for college? Attend free virtual sessions for high school students and families offered by a collaborative of financial aid experts starting Tuesday, October 3rd. All sessions will have interpretation in Spanish, Somali and Hmong.

Students who attend any of the sessions will be entered into a $500 scholarship drawing.

October 10th – 7pm: Understand Financial Aid

October 17th – 7pm: Create your FSA ID

October 24th – 7pm: Search for Scholarships

Students should stop by the Counseling Office and get a pass to attend the college/university/military Rep Visit prior to the right visit. The visits are small group meetings typically lasting 20/30 minutes. These admission reps are often times the same people that review college applications, so it's a great connection for students.

Attention, all boys’ swimmers and divers. There will be a brief team meeting for the upcoming swim and dive season on Tuesday, October 24th at 2:30pm in classroom A209. This is a mandatory team meeting for all past and future team members. Please see Coach Tollefson with questions.

Are you interested in playing Intramural Badminton? Join us at the info meeting on Tuesday, October 24th from 2:35-3:00;m in C350. The season will start in 1-2 weeks.

All current 9th grade players interested in playing basketball this winter should attend one of the two preseason informational meetings:

• October 25 at 7:10 am – 7:35 am Room C350
• October 25 at 2:35 pm – 3:00 pm Room C350

We will go over important information about registration and expectations for tryouts.

All boys hockey players planning on trying out this season for hockey please attend the meeting, on 10/26/23 @ 4 PM in room C250 EVHS.

#1 Huge thank you for your continued support of our new District Policies for Sporting Events.

#2 We have had some questions about students who still do not have a 23-24 student ID.

A. 9th Graders not here on picture day should scan the QR code below to be added to a list that will be used at events.

B. 10th or 11th Graders not here on picture day should visit the Main Office and we will print them an ID with last year’s photo (if they have one. If not, follow the A instructions).

C. 12th Graders who haven't picked up their ID yet - they are located at the Attendance Office. If not they should do the same as “B”.

D. Anyone who has lost theirs from this year, bring $5 for a replacement ID to Maria Brandel in the Main Office.

E. For anyone who was absent on Picture Day this year, Picture Retake Day is Monday, October 16th.

#3 Reminders for Non-Football Athletic Events:

1. Students with a Physical 2023-24 EVHS ID are admitted FREE to all regular season Eastview games played in District 196. If EVHS is not participating OR you do not have your Physical ID you will be required to buy a ticket on Vanco. No Cash Sales.
2. No Backpacks/Bags allowed at events.
3. No outside food/beverage is allowed to be brought in the Stadium.
4. No re-entry. Once someone leaves they will not be readmitted.

#4 Additional Reminder for Football Games:

1. Everyone (including students) needs a ticket to attend football games. The VANCO link is available on the Eastview Website under Athletics. BUY YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE and come to the Main Office if you need help
2. Only high school students from EVHS will be allowed to sit on the home side of the stadium. High school students from the visiting team or any other high school student without an actual 2023-24 EVHS ID must sit on the visiting side of the stadium.

Do you want your high school kids to be outside and active this winter? Want winter to fly by? Sign them up for the ISD 196 Nordic Ski Team! Nordic skiing is a safe, fun winter sport, great off-season training, and a great opportunity to meet kids from all schools across the district. Go to https://isd196nordicski.org to learn more!

Fall captains practices are happening on Tuesdays 3:15-5:15 and Sundays- 4:00-6:00 at Southern Hills. All are welcome. All you need is your golf clubs- the boosters are paying for the range balls.

The Lightning Boys volleyball program is hosting instructional open gyms at Scott Highlands the next two Sunday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm. For guys who are thinking about playing next spring, or just want a chance to learn and play some volleyball, you can register through the community education website or show up and we’ll help you register there. The Eastview High School Marching Band (EVMB) capped off a successful 2023-24 season with yet another award-winning performance of “The Ballad of Eastview” at the prestigious Youth in Music (YIMS) competition last weekend at U.S. Bank Stadium.

More than 30 bands from Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Illinois and Nebraska competed at YIMS. Top-scoring bands performing in the morning preliminary round advanced to finals in the evening, including the EVMB.

The EVMB placed second in its class in the Minnesota State Championship and fifth among all bands that competed at YIMS. In addition, Sam Kenney, the fiddle soloist for the show, took home the YIMMY Outstanding Performer Award.

EVMB’s passionate performance of “The Ballad of Eastview” once again brought attendees – and students from competitor bands – to their feet. The EVMB’s will perform its final show at the Eastview Lightning football game this Wednesday, October 18.

Robotics Team Parent Meeting: October 24, 6:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons (the library). Asking all parents to attend--parents of returning team members and parents of new team members--for the FTC and FRC teams. Learn about upcoming events, key dates, help needed, and other important information.

There will be a student meeting for FIRST ROBOTICS (big robot) on October 17th, after school in Room B329.

FIRST TECH (smaller robots) teams have already started building robots for their season, and students can still join one of these teams.

Eastview Robotics is starting the First Tech Challenge Season (smaller robots). The season will run through the beginning of March and meets 1-2 times per week on a regular basis.

Anyone interested in learning marketing, coding, engineering, and building is encouraged to participate.
