Principal's Message
This time of the year always seems to fly by. We get the chance to celebrate students as they perform in our Talent Show and share what they've learned at the Science Fair. We are starting our final academic trimester of the school year and our students have made so much growth.
This week I had the opportunity to visit our third graders as they worked on their baby literary essays. Students are learning to state a claim and provide support with evidence that they find within the text. It was inspiring to see our students discuss and share in their writing, how an author demonstrated specific themes within a text. Go Third Graders!
Science Fair
We invite all Murwood families to come to the Science Fair on Thursday, March 9th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. A food truck, Ofie's Kitchen, will begin selling dinner fare at 5:30pm. If weather permits, we hope to have volunteers from the Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society on the blacktop with telescopes. Everyone will enjoy browsing through student projects in the multi-purpose room.
If your student completed a science fair project, they can bring their project to the multi-purpose room on Wednesday, March 8th after school or before school on Thursday, March 9th. Participating students should come to the fair ready to discuss their project with a volunteer interviewer.
Thank you for your support of our schools!

Notes From The Office
Mark your calendars for Spring Picture Day, Tuesday, March 14th. These are optional pictures and only students wanting to will have their picture taken. However, all students will participate in their class group photo. In addition, our 5th graders will have their much anticipated “5th Grade Panoramic” picture taken. Order forms will be sent home in next week’s Wednesday Envelope. Extra forms will be available in the office. You may also order photos online.
Murwood Elementary
Spring Picture Day is 03/14/2023
Parents have the ability to order pictures by visiting Dorian Studio. Pictures may be ordered on-line up to four (4) days after picture day.
After the 4-day grace period expires, a personalized access key will be sent home with picture delivery. A $7 shipping and handling fee will be added to all orders made with a personalized access key and orders will ship directly home.

Read Across America Day is March 2
As we celebrate Read Across America Day tomorrow, WCEF is proud to support literacy by providing funding for a credentialed librarian. Above and beyond promoting a lifelong love of reading, our WCSD credentialed librarian is responsible for curating a diverse collection of books, digital resources, and educational materials that align with the curriculum and support the learning goals of each student. WCEF’s mission is to ensure that ALL students have access to high quality educational resources, and a librarian is an essential part of achieving that goal!
