Community Update from Principal Griffin
Dear Erie High School Families,
Thank you for your support and engagement in another great week at Erie High School. It was encouraging to see our students and teachers place great focus throughout the course of this week on a strong finish to the semester in preparation for final exams. I wish all of our students the best in the successful completion of exams and end-of-semester projects for their classes. Please review the fall 2023 semester final exam schedule prior to next week.
Erie High School Boosters
As we prepare for the upcoming Winter Break, I would like to shine a light on an outstanding organization that provides incredible support to Erie High School students, faculty, staff, and community - the Erie High School Boosters. This group of dedicated volunteers has provided robust support to EHS over the years, including $350,000 in financial contributions in just the last four years. The Boosters support EHS students in academics, athletics, performing arts, and co-curricular activities, in addition to their commitment to providing scholarships to students in support of their postsecondary endeavors.
With the installation of our new digital scoreboards in Tiger Stadium and the EHS Main Gym, the Boosters are working to enhance their support of our students with various advertising and sponsorship opportunities. Additionally, the Boosters recently provided a cart of 15 MacBooks for student use in Music Technology and Computer Science courses. The EHS Boosters make a huge impact in our school - to learn more about this outstanding organization and ways that you can support the Booster Club by volunteering or contributing, please visit the Erie High School Boosters official website.
Congratulations to our EHS Music Programs
Over the past two weeks, we have been fortunate to host our winter concerts for band, choir, and orchestra. It brings me great joy and appreciation to see our students perform in these concerts, and it is uplifting to see the incredible community support with outstanding attendance at these concerts. Our Erie High School student-musicians are having a great year!
Congratulations Erie High School Cheer & Football!
On Thursday, we had a great assembly to recognize our fall sports team state champions - the Erie High School cheer team and football team. I am proud of both of these programs, and commend the student-athletes and coaches for their hard work and dedication to excellence over the course of their respective seasons. It is not often that one school is able to win two state championships in the span of six days, but as a result of the outstanding performances by both our cheer and football teams in their respective state championships, we are fortunate to have two fall team champions this year at EHS.
Erie High School Education Foundation Scholarships
The Erie High School Education Foundation scholarships website is live and ready for student applicants! Winter Break would be a great time for our Class of 2024 members to review scholarship opportunities and complete applications provided by EHSEF. To learn more about the EHSEF scholarship program, please visit their new and improved website.
Best wishes to our students on a successful finals week. I hope that you and your family have an incredible upcoming Winter Break (December 22nd - January 5th)!
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
Erie High School Principal
