Dear families,
In our staff morning prayer we read a passage that made us reflect on what makes people happy. It turns out that the happiest people are often the least selfish individuals. Selflessness, it seems, is a powerful pathway to personal fulfillment. Research consistently demonstrates that those who actively seek opportunities to help others throughout the day tend to experience higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction.
The notion that the happiest people are often the least selfish individuals resonates strongly with the teachings and principles of the Catholic Faith. Central to Catholicism is the concept of selflessness and the belief that true happiness is found in serving others. In Catholicism, the act of helping others is considered a fundamental expression of love and compassion, two values that lie at the core of the faith. The Bible is filled with passages emphasizing the importance of selflessness and charity, such as the famous commandment to "love your neighbor as yourself."
When individuals engage in acts of kindness, whether small or grand, they often experience a deep sense of fulfillment and connection to the world around them. Helping others can provide a profound sense of purpose, as it reinforces our role within a larger, interconnected community. Each day I encourage all of us to look for ways to help others in small ways. Not only will this make others feel appreciated, but it will impact our lives positively.
I am thrilled once again to be celebrating our annual Grandparents and Special Friend Mass on Friday, September 22 at 8:30 a.m. After Mass Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to come to the school to see their grandchild’s classroom and school.
Blessings,
Mr. Wiebers
