Attendance Matters
As we near the end of the second trimester, we would like to remind you of the importance of good attendance for all students. Every day a student is absent is a lost opportunity for learning. Too many absences not only can affect achievement for the absent student but also can disrupt learning for the entire class.
Research shows that students who consistently miss school are at risk of lower academic achievement, failure and even dropping out of school altogether.
Bringing awareness to the issue of chronic absenteeism, and providing information and resources to parents can help improve student attendance and, consequently, student achievement. We saw during the pandemic how important it is for all students to be learning in-person from their teachers and alongside their classmates.
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Start building this habit in TK so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Good attendance will help children do well in high school, college and in their careers.
What you can do:
- Build regular routines for bedtime and the morning.
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- Talk about the importance of regular attendance and about how your child feels about school.
- Keep a chart recording your child’s attendance at home. At the end of the week, talk with your child about what you see.
Attendance Challenge
Asset Management Superintendent's Advisory Committee
As part of phase 2, Redefine, we are redefining what success looks like for our students, staff, families, and community. Part of this process includes assessing our facilities to ensure that our sites are running efficiently and aligned with the needs of the community we serve. To assist with this goal, the District is establishing a Superintendent’s Advisory Committee (SAC) to serve in an advisory role to the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees.
The purpose of the SAC is to evaluate and determine with a student-centric focus the most efficient ways to continue to operate the District’s school site facilities. In collaboration with an outside consulting firm (EH&A/MGT), the SAC will develop and evaluate numerous options on how to more efficiently use the District’s school sites to meet the needs of students and staff.
The SAC will meet several times over the next few months to develop a recommendation for the future use of school site facilities. This recommendation will be presented to the Board at a Special Board Meeting for a final decision sometime in the late spring.

Submit your questions, concerns, and comments via this form.
