Stewart Stampede
OCTOBER 1
Message from the Principal
Happy October! I hope you're enjoying the cooler temperatures we have had lately. We're looking forward to more beautiful days ahead.
We are so excited that the district is dropping down to a level 3, (COVID 19 Safety Alert Levels - https://www.conroeisd.net/roadmap-to-reopening/ ). This means we can begin allowing families back into our building. We are looking forward to this change, but we're moving forward slowly. Here are our plans:
1. Parents may come to the school to have lunch with their child by reservation through Sign-up Genius. There are two reasons for this.
- limited capacity due to enrollment
- avoid overcrowding for COVID precautions
2. Parents will be able to volunteer in the copy room, front office, library and with getting things to classrooms.
3. We will be making plans to invite parents for live performances. The process will be different than how we did this in the past (more information to come).
4. Parents will be allowed into the building to check their child out of school or speak to someone in the front office.
5. We will be able to offer face-to-face meetings. Some parents may still prefer Zoom meetings and we are happy to accommodate.
This is the first step to a full opening for parents to come to the campus and be an active participant in their child's education. We realize this is important for children and their families. We're taking this slow to avoid overcrowding. We hope you are as excited about this change as we are.
We cannot wait to see you!
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, ideas or concerns. My email address is jenglish@conroeisd.net.
Take care everyone.
Dr. Julie English
Making a Reservation for Lunch
1. Parents may reserve 2 spots for adults per student. Younger siblings may join you.
2. You must sign up for each grade level lunch you want to attend.
3. We ask that you sign up only once per month, so that every parent has an opportunity to sign up.
4. All visitors must check in at the front desk with a current picture ID.
5. Use this Sign up Genius Link to reserve your spots for the month of October: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0a4ea4aa2aa5f85-stewart
We look forward to seeing you!
Rezoning for Stewart and Gordon-Reed Elementary Schools
- Our current enrollment is at 1,120.
- The capacity for Stewart is 950.
- Stewart is at about 115% capacity.
- Stewart is expected to have an enrollment of about 2,000 students by 2028 if we don't build another campus and rezone.
We are currently making plans for rezoning. Below are the dates for the community presentations. This will be an opportunity for you to see the various zoning scenarios developed by the committee and provide feedback.
Two dates offered for the presentation are:
November 4th @6:00PM through Zoom. https://conroeisd.zoom.us/j/81755598616
November 9th @6:30PM at Stewart K-6
Both presentations will be the same.
The ABC presents proposed zoning recommendations. Two dates offered for the presentation are:
January 10th @6:00PM through Zoom. https://conroeisd.zoom.us/j/83318805894
January 11th @6:30 at Stewart K-6
Both presentations will be the same.
The ABC presents the zoning recommendation to the Board of Trustees on January 18, 2022.
We hope that you will put these dates on your calendar. We want to ensure our community is informed and hear your thoughts and ideas.

COVID Testing
Parents can schedule FREE COVID testing with CISD for your students via your child’s SSO Portal. You will sign in to the portal and click on the COVID Central App, then click on “schedule a test”. This testing site is available M-F from 8AM-6PM and Saturday 8AM-4PM.
If your child does test positive for COVID, please contact Nurse Patty via phone (936-709-4215) or email (pharper@conroeisd.net).
Stellar Student and Mighty Mustang Celebrations
Stellar Students are selected each month. They are voted on by their peers for exhibiting the character traits of Purpose, Respect, Integrity, Determination and/or Excellence. We celebrate our Stellar Students with a ceremony where they are recognized and given a medal. Students are provided with a breakfast from Chick-fil-a. Parents are invited to attend.
Mighty Mustangs are selected each month. They are chosen by their homeroom teacher for personal accomplishments. We celebrate our Mighty Mustangs by scheduling a time for them to play games and eat lunch with administration and counselors. Students are provided with a barbecue sandwich from Rudy's.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Thank you to all our parents for supporting our arrival and dismissal systems. All systems are operating efficiently but we can assure you that we continue to evaluate everything we do to make improvements where needed. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Below are some reminders...
Morning Arrival
Some parents are dropping off students in the back parking lot (faculty parking lot) during morning arrival. This is not a drop-off area. The back parking lot is for our buses to pull into the bus run for loading and unloading. This can put our children and our staff in unsafe situations. Our car rider line is safe and efficient and we have staff available to ensure the safety of your children. You are welcome to use the back parking lot of you plans to park and walk your child around to the front door if you need to drop off medicine or turn in something to the front office.
Afternoon Dismissal
Please refrain from parking along Woodforest Parkway to pick up your children in the afternoon. Some are blocking subdivisions and the entrance to Children's Lighthouse. We have worked hard to develop an afternoon pick up process that is safe and efficient. Our goal is to get everyone home quickly.
