Stanwood Middle School
Family Message - September 3, 2022
First Assembly of the Year!!
Good morning everyone!
We kicked off our school year this week with an all school assembly from Teen Truth. Our speaker, Jared Scott (@jaredscottlive22) connected with our Spartans about how they are all "wired for success." His inspirational message reiterated what every staff member believes about all of our Spartans--every Spartan can and will be empowered to learn at Stanwood Middle School.
Jared's message encouraged our Spartans to continue to be consistent, persistent and relentless in their pursuit of their education; he also talked about the power of making connections with everyone at the school in a positive way.
We are very proud of how well our Spartans are starting the year--right now they are the embodiment of Spreading Spartan Pride Far and Wide.
We have some big things going on this week:
1. Tuesday is Spartan Pride Walks, first day of sports and the YMCA bus starts!
Spartan Pride Walks - Our Spartans will be walking to each location around the school in order to better understand behavior expectations throughout their day!!
First Day of Sports - We are so excited for the start of sports on Tuesday, September 6. There is still time to join: Stanwood Middle School Girls Soccer or Cross Country Registration
Athletes must have a valid sports physical in the office in order to have a practice count. Please also make sure we have consent and emergency forms as well.
Girls soccer practice is daily from 2:20-4:00; students participating in Cross-Country have practice at Port Susan daily until 4:00 p.m. We will send a bus pass to students participating in Cross Country Tuesday afternoon.

Please contact Doug Standish at the YMCA to make sure your student is enrolled in a program and on the list of students eligible to ride the bus. His email is dstandish@ymca-snoco.org
2. Wednesday is late start, don't forget that busses will run 80 minutes later than normal and school will start at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.
3. Thursday is chromebook handout - We will be handing our chromebooks during our Math classes. Teachers will discuss expectations with students during the handout process.
