Reading Workshop
The students are surrounded by great books that they love. They created a list of some of their favorites. We have read over 60 books this school year! It is so important to read with your child. You received a "Rockin' Reader Reading Log". We are asking that you read 25 books with your child by October 17. They have the opportunity to bring a new book home from our classroom library each day.
Independent Reading
Students have a scheduled time each day to read in their Browse Bag. They also have other opportunities to enjoy books.
Letter Formation
We are continuing to work hard on letter formations. We work as a group and then they have practice sheets to reinforce the proper formations. If you are noticing that your child is struggling with writing, please have them practice at home.
Interactive Writing
Writers Workshop
In the beginning, students learn to tell narrative stories through pictures. They are encouraged to write a sentence or two to describe the picture. At this point, it may only include beginning sounds that they hear.
Shared Reading
During Shared Reading the teacher reads a simple story to the class and then the students take turns rereading it to the group. Nalani did a great job finding the first word in the sentence.
Math Workshop
We are practicing writing numbers 0-9. We are learning rhymes to remind us how to write them.
Rockin’ to Red
The students all start their day with their magnet on green - “Ready to Learn”. When they make an awesome choice, show great kindness or have a brilliant thought they will move their magnet up to “Rock to Red”! When they do, you will receive a red note sharing your child’s shining moment with you!
Centers!
Centers are a lot of fun and give the students an opportunity to explore, create, negotiate with other children and practice what they have been learning!
Making Something Special for our Grandparents
Grandparents Breakfast
We LOVED having visitors for breaskfast on Thursday and Friday!
