Grade 3 Highlight
How do you flex that Writing Muscle? We are 'exercising' our Writing Muscles in Writer's Workshop by building our writing stamina. First, we designed a Heart Map and filled it with topics that we love. Next, we picked an idea from our heart map and brainstormed a memory. Finally, we flexed our Writing Muscles by writing a story about our idea in our notebook. We plan on turning these blurbs into published stories as we work through the Writing Process! We can't wait to share them with you!
Grade 4 Highlight
The fourth grade students have been mastering the engineering design process in Science class thus far. They have worked on two assignments that have incorporated the different steps while creating fun, real life structures. For the first activity, the students went through the engineer design process to build a bridge. Once the bridge was successfully completed, the students tested it to see how many pennies it could hold. For the second activity, students used a specific budget and materials to plan and build a boat. After they made a floatable boat, they tested it to see how many marbles it could hold. Improvements were made during both activities as they cycled through the engineer design process.
Grade 5 Highlight
Students in Science classes learned about constellations. They researched one of their favorite constellations and created marshmallow outlines of them. Students have also been working diligently on their Science Fair projects. We can't wait to share them with you!
Grade 6 Highlight
The students in Miss Turner’s Reading classes have not only been reading a bunch of books lately, they have been working on digital citizenship activities to help them to be safe online. The activities come in the form of a game, where the kids can advance once they answer online safety questions correctly. The kids have been loving it and learning an essential life skill at the same time. Keep up the good work!
