Defenders - Defining Excellence Everyday
April 7, 2024
Notes from our Principal
Hello Driscoll community,
A very busy week is ahead of us with some once in a lifetime experiences to be had. On April 8, 2024, San Antonio will see a total solar eclipse, something that hasn't happened since 1878. Here at Driscoll, we are excited to take part and we will be following an adjusted schedule tomorrow so we can view the eclipse! Please understand that with the entire school going outside to view the eclipse, it will not be possible to pick up students from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. If you need to pick up your student, please plan ahead to pick them up before 12:30pm or after 2:00pm. Campus staff will provide eclipse viewing glasses for all students to view the eclipse. If you DO NOT want your student to participate in the viewing of the eclipse, please complete this opt-out form and return it to the main office or email Ms. Sadler at asadle@neisd.net by 10:00am on Monday, April 8.
On Tuesday, April 9, all students will be taking the STAAR reading test. We will be following an adjusted bell schedule due to the testing. We encourage all students to get a good night of rest the day before and then be sure to eat breakfast prior to beginning the test. As a reminder, all students at Driscoll are able to eat breakfast and lunch for free each day on our campus. There are some additional reminders to help students be prepared noted below.
Join us Thursday, April 11, 6pm at Littleton Gym for An Evening with Strings as the Driscoll orchestra performs with our cluster campuses. Also on Thursday, our boys and girls soccer teams will be playing Jackson for their second game of the season. The 7th grade teams begin at 4:30pm and the 8th grade teams begin at 6:00pm.
April is the month of the military child and we celebrate them for all of their sacrifices. There are several details noted below about a spirit week planned for our military children and a special breakfast for our military families. Dr. Maika highlighted Driscoll’s S2S program honoring military children & their families during his Friday Employee message this past week.
youtu.be/gREG19W4JFs?si…Our S2S group has many special details planned for this month. As a reminder, we encourage all students to make good choices and finish this school year strong! We want all students to be proud of the choices they are making. As we near the end of the year events like award ceremonies, field days, and more, only students who are meeting expectations will be able to participate. Thank you for reminding students to choose wisely with their decisions each day.
Please review the many details included in this week's Driscoll News. If you have specific questions, please reach out so we can assist with those items.
