Principal's Message
We are excited to welcome our 7th and 8th grade parents/guardians to our Back to School Night on Monday, September 18, from 6:30-8:30PM. Please note the following to help ensure a smooth evening:
- The doors will open at 6:15PM.
- Parking lots can get full. Please utilize all four lots around the building. Both the main and rear lobby entrances will be open.
-Report to your child's 1st period, Day 1 class. You need to know the name and room number of this location. We will begin in 1st period promptly at 6:30PM with a live video message from Mr. Marsch and Mr. Maoury. We will not start in Homeroom.
-Upon arrival to your child's 1st period class, you will be given a hard copy of a schedule that your child will have filled out. You are welcome and encouraged to have Infinite Campus open on your phone and follow the Day 1 schedule in case your child's handwriting is hard to read 😉!
-We will have Bear Ambassadors around the building to help you navigate the halls. Please leave your children at home as this is for parents/guardians only.
-Should you wish to have a private conversation about your child with their teacher, please schedule a time with your child's teacher for another date. They will be providing you with their contact information.
- Prior to the Back to School Night event, we will have a presentation for 8th grade parents/guardians in the Auditorium on "Creating Better Boundaries" from Victim's Service of Montgomery County. This will run from 5:30-6:15PM. Doors will open at 5:15PM.

9/11- A Day of Remembrance
Students from our Adaptive Life Skills Art classes created the above images for 9/11. In addition, the school participated in a moment of silence honoring those civilians and first responders who lost their lives. Our social studies classes engaged in various age appropriate activities relating to the day's events of September 11, 2001.
SPIRIT DAY!
Student Council is hosting “Hawaiian Day” on Friday, September 22nd. Show your spirit by dressing in tropical-theme outfits! All outfits must follow the school dress code. Hats and sunglasses are not permitted. Please see the student handbook for dress code guidelines. Homeroom teachers will select the student who is dressed in the most spirited Hawaiian-themed outfit to be entered into a raffle to win a prize! We hope to see everyone join us for “Hawaiian Day” on Friday, September 22nd.
Suicide Prevention & Awareness
Your school counselors hope your child/(children) is/(are) having a great start to middle school! We wanted make you aware of some sensitive material that will be covered this month in our REACH for the Future course. To help ensure all students remain safe and proactively educated, we will be discussing suicide prevention, awareness & resources. The lessons will be prefaced to make students aware that if they are uncomfortable or need support, the counseling office will be available to help students take a break or process. Materials will be posted on our REACH Website to view and refer to. Please reach out to your school counselors for any questions or concerns.

The annual See You at the Pole™ event will be held on Wednesday, September 27 at 7AM at the flagpole out front of our school.
See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Decades later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.
See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.
Brakeman's Cafe is offering a specialty drink- the liBEARian latte. 🐻 A dollar from the sale of each drink will benefit the middle school libraries. You can vote East or West. Mrs. Mento is going to buy more Rubik's Cubes for the East library. West is going to buy bracelet materials and puzzles. We are working together to build community in our school libraries.
