The Importance of Getting Involved!
Students who get involved in an extra curricular activity statically have better attendance, GPA's, and are more likely to make it to graduation. The benefits of participating in activities range from learning communication skills to new friendships to leadership development to greater personal or social awareness.
Students who participate have a greater sense of connection to their school. Getting involved with a club, activity, or sport make the school smaller, allowing them to make more meaningful relationships.
Extracurricular activities are activities not linked to the classroom, but every activity has the potential for teaching important life lessons that promote academic skills. Whether it revolves around a club, fine arts program, athletics, student government, or volunteer opportunity, extracurricular activities reinforce the student’s character, values, and ability to think critically and put into action the skills they are learning in class.
Take a second and look through the activities and clubs that are STILL going on during REMOTE instruction, find your fit, and get connected!
Athletics!
More info will come out soon about how you can get connected to our teams and coaches.
FHS Athletic Director Shane Nixon held a town hall meeting regarding athletics. The audio had a little difficulty the first minute or so but it improved after that. If you missed it feel free to watch the recording, it provides update on athletics for the 2020-21 seasons.
