Congratulations Girls Basketball!

We are so very proud of our West Wing Girl's Basketball Team and Coach Champlin! Our girls played with so much determination and skill this entire season. Not only did they win the district championship but they also won the first Northwest Valley Athletic Conference Championship game that DVUSD participated in against Dysart and Peoria!

Congratulations to all of our 8th Graders!

Thank You Parents!

We had our last Mustang Store on Friday, May 12 and it was the biggest one yet! Many students had been earning and saving up their Mustang Money to redeem on the last day of the store. We are so proud of all our students for earning Mustang Money all year by following the West Wing School Expectations!

Thank you to all of our families for supporting the store and fulfilling our Amazon Wish List. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents that staffed the store throughout the school year! We appreciate you so much!

West Wing PTSA Presents

The PTSA has teamed up with ASU baseball for an awesome opportunity! On May 20th, they are offering West Wing families, students, staff, & friends discounted tickets to their home game against UCLA. Hello Families,

Our final motto for this school year is:

I learn more by truly listening to others.

We all know that listening is an essential part of strong conversation skills. However, finding ways to help our children develop those skills can be tricky. Summertime provides opportunities to help your children strengthen their conversation skills because there are more visits with extended family members and friends. When people visit ask your kids to Learn 3 Things & Tell 3 Things.

This simple, but effective tool can help your child feel more confident when interacting with others. I started asking my children to do this because I once had a relative complain to me about how kids today (which meant my kids) spend too much time on their phones and don't interact with others. I was slightly frustrated by the comment because I had given my children permission to go on their phones only after they had done a solid hour of visiting with their relatives.

Then it hit me, their "visiting" was really just a quiet physical presence. They were present, but not engaged. So, the next time we visited family I asked my kids to share three things with each relative and to learn three things about each relative. Not only did this provide them with an easy frame to follow but it also helped them to build better relationships with the people we care about.
