MUMS Family Newsletter
February 2, 2024
Dear MUMS community,
I hope this message finds you well. Third Quarter is in full swing here at school! Students are getting into a groove with their newest MIXT team classes as well as signing up for new Exploratories.
Today we are sending students off to the District Music Festival in Castleton to practice and then perform which is very exciting! Stay tuned for pictures.
Additionally, we had a visit from folks from Senator Sanders office this week to learn about school and also hear from staff and students about ways the Senator can support the needs that exist in VT schools currently. Our students represented our school in such a great way. Additionally they embodied the following Learner Profile Attributes; Balance, Thinkers, communicators, inquirers and open-mindedness. It was a proud moment for MUMS!
Lastly, we hope to see many students at tomorrow's DJ Skate Night which is advertised below. This is an ice skating fundraiser at the Memorial Sports Center. Thanks so many volunteers for helping to make this event a success. Tuesday is our Mardi Gras/Carnival celebration at school which is from 6:00-8:00 and designed to share learning in our Language Acquisition classes. We hope to see you there!
Have a great weekend.

Dignity
What Is Dignity? Dignity is our way forward to build strong relationships.
“Dignity, the belief that all humans have equal worth and value, is the foundation of our work. Everyone has dignity. Everyone has the same amount. It cannot be earned or lost. Dignity is a given. It is an absolute. It is a non-negotiable right.
It may seem simple that everyone has essential value. However, the practice of using dignity to guide our interactions with each other is actually a radical shift. And while we are all born with dignity, we are not born knowing how to act in ways that honor everyone’s dignity, including our own..” from Cultures of Dignity

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Our annual MUMS Carnival/Mardi Gras Celebration is this Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm! Come watch Language Acquisition students in all three grades celebrate the music, food and dance of different cultures! All are invited!
Pam Quinn and Eileen Sears, MYP Coordinators
“The study of additional languages in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) provides students with the opportunity to develop insights into the features, processes and craft of language and the concept of culture, and to realize that there are diverse ways of living, viewing and behaving in the world." New Text Feature for school/home communication
Dear ACSD Families,
This February, we will launch text messaging for ACSD families. This won't replace our current email/phone communication, but it will help us reach you quickly for urgent issues. We will not text you often and only for short, time-sensitive messages (like early dismissal and snow days).
To receive texts, you must opt-in. Directions to opt-in:
Text “yes” to 67587. You will get a reply confirming your registration. If you ever want to stop, just text STOP.
Make sure we have your wireless number in our student database. This is the number you share on school forms in August. (If you currently receive school/ACSD calls on your cell phone, we probably have your wireless number.) If not, please share it with your school.
Harvest of the Month
MUMS students are leading Harvest of the Month. January’s harvest is beets, and we’ll be making beet brownies. The recipe and more information about beets can be found here.
MUMS School Store
There has been a request to reinvigorate our School Store in time for the Holidays. For those of you interested in purchasing "MUMS Gear" please use this link.
