Where Learning Comes First
Principal's Post
Dear Head Community,
Our teachers are so excited that conferences are around the corner. Conferences help teachers strengthen their relationships with families so both are able to support student learning. It's a time for your child to shine as you learn about his/her progress since your fall meeting.
Have you signed up for Run the Reagan? It's coming up on the 25th of February. Head Elementary receives five dollars for every runner/walker who signs up under our team. Join today!

Help Wanted!
Would you be willing to help in our garden located at the back of our building? We are looking for parent and community help. The girl scouts will be helping, but we would welcome other volunteers to refresh the garden beds with new soil and donate plants this spring. A community clean-up date and times will be announced soon.
Volunteers can email Malanie Abad at melanie.abad@gcpsk12.org
Black History Month
February is Black History Month.
GCPS celebrates #eachandevery individual as we cultivate a culture of belonging while leading with empathy, equity, and excellence to ensure that #TeamGCPS students, families and staff feel welcome, safe, accepted, valued, and prepared for the future.
Media Center
The Media Center Celebrates Black History Month: We are in the middle of celebrating the amazing contributions Black Americans have made through the years. Check out information on the Media Center Website under our Celebrating Cultures page. Scroll down for a list of activities.
We need your help! Inspired by Ms. Cochran's door, and our school nurse's door in past years, we are going to have an optional Black History Month Door Decorating Contest! If you love arts and crafts, would you consider helping your teacher decorate his or her door? We have butcher paper in the media center! The class with the best door wins a pizza party!
Jacob's Black History Month Challenge! Jacob is challenging you to learn as many African countries as you can. Take the challenge. Stop by the media center or go to the media center website today!
In case you don't have the link, to get to the media center website go to our school website: https://www.gcpsk12.org/heades > school information > media center.
While you are there, you can watch a short video on the media center through the years. The Black History Month info is under Media Center Activities > Celebrating Cultures.
