December 17th - SIP Day

Next Friday, December 17th is a scheduled SIP Day in District 41. On eight SIP Days throughout the year, students in 1st through 8th grade will have early dismissal at 11:30 a.m. to allow time for building staff members to work on school improvement activities. Kindergarten students will not attend school on SIP Days. For the December 17th SIP Day, AM Pre-K students WILL attend school 8:15 a.m - 10:45 a.m at Forest Glen. Winter Break Dates

District 41 Winter Break begins on Monday, December 20, and goes through Friday, December 31. All school buildings will be closed during this time. School will resume on Monday, January 3, 2022.

The District 41 COVID Dashboard is a way for the public to monitor both the number of positive covid cases reported for students and staff as well as the number of people quarantined in the district due to close contact with someone who has tested positive. The dashboard will be updated every Monday by the end of the day.

Every winter District schools face the possibility of school building closures due to inclement weather. In the event that schools need to close for the day, District 41 will communicate the weather-related closure to families and staff as early as possible. The District 41 Music Department December performances are ongoing. This year you can watch the concerts in real time via livestream. See the web address below for the concerts you want to watch live. For more details regarding the Hadley concerts CLICK HERE. Space is limited due to Covid restrictions. Each musician may invite 2 guests. The concerts are not open to the public for in-person viewing.

District 41 Problem-Based Learning Coach Nick Papineau hosted a virtual K-5 Family Science Engagement Night. Over 90 families participated! Mr. Papineau gave K-5 families and students a virtual tour of what science looks like in D41. The night featured information on science literacy and at-home skills, the facilitating of an engineering task for families, and a guest speaker from the Willowbrook Wildlife Center. Participants also submitted photos of their tower designs and there was a winner from Churchill 4th grade!

The DuPage County Health Department is offering pediatric COVID-19 vaccinations for children ages 5-11. Click here to register and you will be notified via email for an appointment. DCHD recommends residents interested in pediatric or adult COVID-19 vaccinations visit www.vaccines.gov to find the earliest available appointment nearest to your home. Additional vaccination opportunities for individuals aged 12+ are also available from DCHD at the Central Office in Wheaton on Thursdays from 8:30 am - 10:30 am. Please register here and you will be notified via email with instructions on how to schedule your appointment.

The Illinois Housing Development Authority has opened a new federally funded round of assistance as of Monday, Dec. 6. If you are behind on rent due to COVID-19, you may be eligible for up to $25,000 and 18 months of emergency rental payments. Carol Segal is the founder of the Bambini Method. Carol has taken her two decades of experience as an educator and mentor, and created the Bambini Method to support parents on important developmental milestones including toilet training.
