National Walk to School Day!
Principal's Message & From the Office
Thank you again for your patience during the Olive Street repaving! We are hopeful they will be finished next week! Have a great weekend and remember there is NO SCHOOL next week on Wednesday, Oct. 5th.
Items Dropped Off
When dropping off an item for a student during the school day, please include the child's name and teacher on the item. Sometimes several things are dropped off at the same time, all for different students, and it helps Mrs. Tucker & Mrs. Russell immensely when the items are labeled.
Parent Teacher Conferences
OMS IN-PERSON PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES FALL 2022
Thursday, October 20th & Friday, October 21st, 2022
At Olive-Mary Stitt Elementary School, we value a strong partnership between home and school. Twice a year, time is provided for you to meet with your child’s teacher for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Parents will be able to register for conferences online, using http://www.signupgenius.com. Directions and links to begin registering for conferences will be shared via email on Tuesday, 10/11/22 at 10 am. The window for registering for fall conferences will be Tuesday, 10/11/22 at 10 am through Tuesday, 10/18/22 at 10 am.
The conferences are scheduled in 20-minute increments for 1st-5th grades and 15-minute increments for kindergarten. In order to be fair and equitable to all our OMS families, each family may register for only one evening conference per year. Families may choose to register for an evening conference in the fall or spring, not both.
4th/5th Grade Parents: The conference times are for meeting with your child’s homeroom teacher. If your child has a different teacher for math and you have specific math questions, please email him or her.
Please remember that these two days are set aside for the purpose of conferences, not as vacation days. If you will be out of town during the conference days, please consider contacting your child’s teacher to arrange a phone conference or Zoom meeting during a regular conference time slot.
We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your child's teacher on October 20th or October 21st. Let's work together to make this a great school year for your child!
Notes from the Nurse
New student and Kindergarten families, if you have not yet submitted necessary health forms, please turn them in as soon as possible either by backpack mail or via email to rrose@sd25.org.
*Hearing and Vision Screenings
We will soon be performing the required vision and hearing screenings. Hearing Screenings will take place for students in grades K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, new to the district and those with IEPs. Vision screenings will take place for students in K and 2nd, new to the district and those with IEPs. Kindergarten families, please note that a vision screening at school does not replace a required vision exam.
*Extra Clothing
Please pack a ziplock bag with a change of clothes for your child to keep in their backpack. The health office is limited with the amount of clothing to borrow. Accidents can happen from mud puddles, milk spills, etc.
Walk to School Day!
We’d like to invite all Olive students to join a route and walk with the Olive staff to celebrate
Walk to School Day on Wednesday, OCTOBER 12, 2022.
The aim of this day is to encourage physical activity, healthier habits, bring awareness to environmental concerns, and safe routes to school. We hope many OMS families will join us on this day as well as consider this a preferred option for getting to and from school, weather permitting, throughout the school year.
A phone and email blast will be sent out by 7:30 am, should we have to reschedule due to the weather. Our rain date has been set for Thursday, October 13, 2022.
