Ernie Pyle Elementary ~ June 2023

Message from the Principal - November 12, 2023
Hello Pyle Families,
Thursday, our staff and students joined our PTA in honoring our Veterans. We are so grateful to all of the patriotic Americans who have selflessly served in our armed forces to allow us the freedom that we enjoy each and every day. The assembly included 6th grade student leaders sharing poems and leading the school in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Ernie Pyle Pledge, the Bellflower Jazz Ensemble provided beautiful music, and the PTA provided refreshments and gift bags for our honored guests. It was a wonderful time for our students to learn about some of our own community members who have sacrificed for them.
This month our counselors are commemorating Native American Heritage Month. Our hallway has been lined with the tribal names of 50 tribes in California so that students can learn about some of the tribes of California and investigate the history of the first people to live right here where we live. Amazingly, this isn't even all of the California tribes.
We are having a canned food drive to give back to our Bellflower Community in collaboration with the Bellflower Volunteer Center. The canned food drive is happening now through November 15. We are asking our students to please bring in only canned food items. The class bringing in the most canned food items will receive a free dress day.
PTA is having a popcorn fundraiser. Please help support them by selling items if you are able to. The popcorn fundraiser runs until November 15.
The first trimester is over. Report cards will be made available in your parent portal account after school on Monday, November 13, for you to review. If you have any questions about your student's progress please reach out to the teacher to schedule a conference.
We hope you have enjoyed a wonderful long weekend and look forward to an amazing week ahead.
