Announcements!
Dear Atholton Families,
The excitement is building as we approach Homecoming 2019! Students are diligently meeting to plan their hall decorations for next week. Below you will find all the pertinent information you will need regarding our upcoming Homecoming activities. We will begin our spirit week this Friday with Jersey Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear the jersey of their favorite team/athlete. I’ll be curious to see how many Ravens fans we have :-).
A persistent issue for both parents and students has been getting information from our morning and afternoon announcements. Parents are unaware of the announcements being made in school and often students miss the information shared in the short time frame in the morning and afternoon. I am happy to report that we now have our announcements on our school website. Now parents and students are able to review announcements and not worry about what you missed or didn't know! Moreover, this new online system will allow us to significantly reduce the number of announcements via our PA system. If a group would like to have announcements added on our website, please send an email to Ms. Nasir at Adrienne_Nasir@hcpss.org.
I am currently in Washington D.C. at a board meeting for the National Association of Secondary School Principals. October is National Principals Month and I will spend a day on Capitol Hill meeting with representatives of Senators Cardin and Van Hollen and Representative Cummings. Additionally, I will take part in a Capitol Hill briefing on October 17 that discusses the challenges of the principalship.
Lastly, for those celebrating Rosh Hashanah – Happy New Year!
Have a fantastic week!
Warmest Regards,
Robert Motley, Principal
