The Connection Week 9 Term 4
Huapai District School 15th December 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tomorrow we finish the school year for our children.
Our school has finished strong.
I am so grateful and keen to acknowledge the strength I can see across the school and, in every sector of the school. We rightly measure our success in what happens for children and what happens in the classroom. However, our school is made up of so much more!
Our Support team who bring the magic and individuality to the various children we support, our Ops team who are the enablers of our school. The work Garry (our caretaker) does in keeping things happening. The service Cathy offers in the library. The leadership team we have in the school. Special thanks to Maree and Keryn who have carried so much over the year and in particular these last few weeks where I have been absent from being on site. Our parent volunteers helping in classes. Our school Board for their support, wisdom and the challenge they bring to our work, our HFN team who build community and raise funds for the school.
There are just so many aspects to a school. When you get them all performing to the standard we see great things happen. Special thanks to you, our parents and our community for your support. We greatly value the support, encouragement and interactions we have with you.
Finally, to acknowledge your children - our children. These last three years have been a challenge in managing COVID, throughout this and every day we see the character of our children shine. You can be really encouraged with the quality, the resilience and the attitude we see in the children of Huapai.
Thank you for all you do.
Have a great and safe Christmas and break.
John Petrie
Principal

Do You Have Any Unpaid Charges On Your HERO Account?
With tomorrow being the end of the school year, we ask that you review the Finance section of your HERO account for any unpaid (and now overdue) charges. While the School Donation is just that, a donation, we do require all other school related costs to be paid for in full. Payments for any unpaid/overdue charges are required immediately.
Fill The Blues Bus With Gifts For Children This Christmas.
Thank you SO much to our amazing school community for your generosity in gifting presents for this incredible campaign!
On Friday Benji and Lucas Eastgate were so proud to drop off 70 items to the Blues HQ that you had all donated. What an outstanding effort!

Carters Dog Company
Carter (Year 5) has formed a small business venture to raise funds for basketball hoops at the school.
To quote Carter:
I would like to raise funds to purchase two new hoops. I have found a company that will supply me with eco-bag products. They are willing to sell me products to resell to this cause. We started with dog poo bags.

Change To Senior (Year 7&8) Uniform
In 2023, there will be a change to the senior uniform. An optional item of a Year 7&8 hoodie will be introduced. This smart navy and red looking hoodie will replace the polar fleece and current senior jacket, which is neither waterproof, nor warm. The cost of the hoodie is $70 and will be able to be ordered through our uniform shop in the usual manner. Year 7&8 students are still able to wear the school polar fleece and school jacket for 2023 and 2024 should they wish, as the fleece and jacket are phased out for this age group. From 2025 the hoodie will be a compulsory uniform item for Years 7&8.
There will be strict guidelines around the wearing of the hoodie to ensure that the students represent the school values. Sizing must be appropriate for the child and not oversized fashion items. Hoods must be down indoors.
More information to come.
