Penngrove Press
December 14th, 2022
Panther families,
We are so close to the new year! I hope you and your family are all staying healthy- we have seen a HUGE uptick in COVID, flu and RSV cases at school this year. Please be sure to test at home if your student has any symptoms (we have plenty of tests in the office, just ask!), get plenty of rest and fluids, and mask up if you feel that would benefit your student and family.
Come walk with us next Wednesday- it will be cold, so bundle up! My brother in law, who lives in Vermont, says there's no bad weather, just unprepared humans! ; ) See you there!
Stay awkward, brave and kind!
Penngrove Holiday Parade of Lights
Sunday, December 18, 2022, 6:00pm-7:00pm
11800 Main Street
Penngrove, CA
DETAILS: Roads close 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Park at Penngrove Elementary 4:30 – 8:00 pm (gates lock)
Bundle up, and come down to Main Street for the 6th annual Penngrove Holiday Parade of Lights on Sunday, December 18 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Penngrove Social Firemen offer the spectacle of glammed up tractor trailers, farm vehicles, and decorated farm tractors covered in lights. It’s not all farm equipment! Last year, North Bay Performing Arts Center’s Contessi Ballet dancers waved from their Cinderella Carriage float.
Local merchants will serve soup, pizza, hot cider street food to keep you warm. The parade stages in the Penngrove Park, 11800 Main St., and rolls up Main Street toward Adobe Rd.
Watch out for the train.
The idea was conceived in 2016 by Kim Hanson, PSF volunteer. It was a stunning success and sparked a clamor to make it an annual Penngrove tradition.
Roads Close: 5:00 - 7:30 pm
Parking 4:30 - 8:00 pm at Penngrove Elementary School, Adobe Rd. & Petaluma Hill Road.
Contact Kim Hanson, JavAmore Café, mrsjjava@hotmail.com or call 707-794-1516 for more information.
Our next Walking School Bus will be on Wednesday, December 21st

This morning during assembly, the students learned about a brand new reading incentive program- Read A Million Minutes. Check out the slides below for more info!
And- if you are able to assist Mrs. M with this program (logging student reading minutes at the end of each month, organizing incentive, etc) please click here to sign up.
Bring your BEST homemade cookies for the staff!

Question of the week from Principal Harp
Each week, I will be sending out a question with which you will be given the opportunity to engage in a new conversation with your child. We all know how hard it is to draw out responses other than, "nothing" or "fine" when we ask "What did you do today?" or "How was school?" Be sure to use open ended follow-up questions and statements such as "Tell me more about that!" or "What did you think of that?" Please ask your student(s) the question below, share their response with us and make our day! You can submit more than one response! (No need to put names or identifying words.)
