Key Stage 1 Nativity

Year 1 and Year 2 present stable by starlight

The Nativity this year was presented by Year 1 and Year 2 in the Cathedral. The children worked really hard on learning the songs and words for their retelling of the Christmas story - 'Stable by Starlight.'

There was some super acting, narrating and joyous singing. Well done to all the children and staff, you are all stars!

A photographer from the The Daily Telegraph came to our dress rehearsal to take some pictures which may feature in the run up to Christmas. We are never quite sure if and when the picture is featured, but when we receive a communication we will let parents and carers know by text.

Messages of Hope

Hopes for Christmas

During this term our value has been hope. The children have thought about hope in many ways and how we can have hope and keep positive when we are faced with challenges. Children from across the school shared some of their hopes for this Christmas which you can see by clicking on the film above.

From everyone at Ripon Cathedral School, we do HOPE that you have a wonderful, restful Christmas.

Superstars of the term

At our special celebration worships we gathered together to share some of the super work that classes have been doing over the term. We also announced our Superstars for the term, who have shown positive attitudes and been role models for their peers.

Christmas Parties

This week the children have enjoyed their Christmas parties. They have played games, had treats and the children in the Early Years and Key Stage 1 even had a very special visitor who called in to school. Each class spent time with Santa and they told him all about how they are getting ready for Christmas Day.

Christmas Songs at Lister House

Year 4 had a wonderful end to the term as they were invited to Lister House to perform some of their favourite Christmas songs. The staff and residents provided a lovely warm welcome and were a great audience. Well done to all involved!

Happy Stickmas!

Our Nursery class has entered the Christmas tree competition which is taking place at the Spa Garden's Illuminated Winter Wonderland this weekend. Their Stickman Christmas tree is so imaginative, we are sure you will love it - and want to vote for it!

Stone Age Art

In Year 3, the children have been creating Stone Age art from natural materials. Firstly, they sketched their animals from charcoal, using thier observational skills. Then they painted their sketch using spices such as paprika, cumin and cloves. They painted this on to an uneven modroc background to give a cave wall effect.

Super swimming

Every child in Year 2 have achieved a swimming certificate this week at swimming. Their certificates are for swimming 10 metres, for completing their water skills 1, and for completing their water skills 2! Very well done Year 2, you have worked so hard with your swimming all throughout this term.
