Issue 68, the renewal levy for Strongsville City Schools, is on the November ballot. This renewal levy helps our District maintain financial stability and extends our budget through effective financial stewardship. Issue 68 allows Strongsville City Schools to maintain financial stability through at least the 2026-27 school year. What are some other examples of our District being effective stewards of the financial resources from our community? Click HERE for a tri-fold brochure that outlines additional SCS financial highlights.
60 Seconds with the Superintendent
Do you know what makes up your family’s ecological footprint? Students in Mrs. Maher’s Advanced Placement Environmental Science class were challenged to figure out the impact they are making on the environment. This project-based learning experience gave students the chance to study their water and electric consumption, as well as the trash they generate. Click HERE for this week’s ‘60 Seconds’ episode, as we hear more about their classroom experience.

SURRARRER FUN RUN RAISES OVER $19,000
Congratulations to Surrarrer Elementary for raising over $19,000 for their school during their 2nd Annual ‘Fun Run’ event. Students collected pledges and then ran laps on a fun run course with their classmates. Thanks to Surrarrer PTA for organizing this event and for all of the students who enthusiastically participated!
SHS JUNIOR MATT KAUFHOLD ACHIEVES EAGLE SCOUT DISTINCTION
Matthew Kaufhold, a junior at Strongsville High School, achieved Eagle Scout distinction. Matthew is the 154th Eagle Scout of his local Troop (701). He earned 27 merit badges, the World Conservation award, two National Honor Patrol awards, and hiked 196 miles earning him the 75- and 150-Miler Boot Club awards. Matthew also earned the Troop Community Service award four times with 99 hours of service. His Eagle Scout project benefited the Richfield Heritage Preserve, leading troop members in repairing a structure at a campsite. Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank that Boy Scouts of America offers. Since the first Eagle Scout in 1912, more than 2.6 million Scouts have achieved this status, which equates to approximately four to eight percent of all Scouts who enter Scouting. SMS MUSTANG MENTORS HELP 6TH GRADERS TO RAISE THE BAR
Strongsville Middle School students have been working hard this year to support their initiative to Raise the BAR (Belonging, Acceptance, and Respect). They have been striving as a school to live above the line, raise the bar and expectations for those around them, and hold people accountable by treating others with kindness, showing respect to others, themselves, and to the school.
Recently, 7th and 8th grade students and peer leaders took time to train and learn lessons to support “Raising the BAR.” They taught 6th graders what it means to Belong, Accept and Respect. They did a great job leading their peers, being great examples, and supporting a positive culture at SMS. Nice job, Mustang Mentors!
