Note from the Director..
Greeting
We are so happy to see all of our returning and new families. This school year is going to be great. We are looking forward to all the fun and learning we will have this school year. Several new staff have joined the Bussey team this school year and are thrilled to be on the team. Please join us in welcoming them as we enjoy the start of a wonderful school year!
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Bussey programs are funded by a grants from the Office of Head Start and the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). It is the expectation of Head Start that average school attendance must be at 85% or higher. Therefore, in order for the Center to maintain its funding, children must attend and arrive at school on time daily. We understand if children are ill and need to miss school.
Consistent school attendance contributes to positive academic, social-emotional, and health outcomes.Poor school attendance may affect children’s ability to learn how to read and become good readers, to develop and maintain friendships, and to continue poor attendance throughout their school experience.
Enrollment slots at Bussey are highly sought after and are quickly filling up. Students who are chronically absent may be dropped from the program.
