RMS Student and Staff Field Trip, February 16
Hello RMS Families!
RMS students and staff will be taking field trips on Friday, February 16.
Grade 6 will go to Andover Community Center
Grade 7 will go to Elm Creek Park Reserve (Tubing)
Grade 8 will go to Mall of America-Nickelodeon Universe
Registration goes live on Tuesday, January 16. Watch for an email from your student's Royal Rally teacher with all of the details.

Reminder to Sign-Up for Conferences!
Conferences Will Be Held Virtually
January 25, 3:20-8 p.m.
Virtual conferences require a conference time slot sign-up through My Conference Time
Schedule a time for a virtual conference with your desired staff member. Look for the confirmation email once you schedule your virtual conference with each teacher. The confirmation email will give a link that you will need to click on at your conference time to meet virtually with the teacher.
Please SAVE the confirmation e-mail as it provides the link to start your conference at the designated time.
Parent Directions To Begin A Conference
To respect the privacy of other families, conferences will begin at the designated time.

Volunteer News
We need volunteers all day on Tues Jan 23 & Wed Jan 24 to support our 7th graders as they take part in a Courage Retreat. The days are broken into shifts. Duties will include: setting up signs for groups, distributing school lunches, monitoring entrances/exits, and checking bathrooms. Friday February 16 is our all building field trip. 6th grade will go to Andover Community Center, 7th grade will go to Elm Creek for snow tubing and 8th grade will go to Nickelodeon Universe. We need up to 10 chaperones for each field trip. All chaperones will check in at 9am on Feb 16th at RMS.

Community Education News
The new year brings lots of new Community Ed opportunities! Here are some Middle School activities coming up.
7th and 8th Grade Girls Basketball Starts January 16
In this competitive basketball league, players will learn the skills and strategies of basketball with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Based on registration numbers, A and B level teams will be formed based on each player’s skill level. Teams practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Activity bus available.
Performance Cheer Starts January 16
Performance cheer is an athletic event that involves cheering, stunting, tumbling and dancing. The performance cheer squad will participate in an Anoka-Hennepin Schools middle school show at the completion of the season. The district cheer show is Thursday, February 22nd at Coon Rapids Middle School at 6 p.m. Student athletes will need black shorts, mostly white tennis shoes and to come to each practice with athletic attire.
Chess Club Starts January 22
Get into the game you love to play! Our focus is on developing competitor’s chess skills, knowledge, analytical abilities and intellectual strength through lessons, puzzles and practice. Our team will compete against other teams at team meets and local and state tournaments. Create a checkmate today.
Archery Starts January 23
There is more to active life than traditional sports. Ignite your passion and excitement for sports by way of bow and arrow. Each day you'll learn the safety, technique and fun of archery, a sport that dates back hundreds of years. Master your aim and accuracy in this sport that is gaining popularity. All equipment provided.
Dance Team Starts February 26
In this competitive dance team league, dancers will learn the skills of dance with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. There are even more classes like Dungeons and Dragons, Weight Training and Conditioning, Terrain and Diorama Crafting, Mindful Movement, Cookie Wars, Muffin Wars, Babysitter Training, Ping Pong, Painting Miniature Models and 6th Grade Girls and 6th Grade Boys Basketball!
Procedural Expectations for Picking Up Your Student Early
If you will be picking up your student(s) early please follow this procedure:
- Calling and leaving a message on the attendance line; 763-506-5806
- Enter the pick-up time and reason in ParentVue
- Have your student bring a note to the attendance office in the morning
- The cut-off time to pick up your student is 2:30 p.m.
- Parking in front of the school to pick up your student ends at 2:30 p.m.
- If we are not notified prior, it will take longer to get your student out of lunch or class
Following this procedure helps the office prepare for your arrival and helps you get to your destination on time.

2022-23 MCA Individual Score Reports
MCA Individual Score Reports Available to View Online
Starting this school year, the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) Individual Score Reports for students will be available for families to access online and will no longer be sent through postal mail. The 2023 MCA report is available now for students who took a test during the 2022-23 school year and families can access the document by logging into A-HConnect or viewing it on the ParentVUE mobile app.
Who takes the MCA test? Students in grades 3-8 and in grades 10 and 11 take MCA tests each year. Current MCA reports will only be available for students who took an MCA test during the 2022-23 school year.
In addition to detailed test results, the report also includes a QR code directing families to an individualized video report of the student’s score. Parents, guardians and any person with educational rights to a student will be able to access the student’s MCA report online.
If you need assistance logging in to A-HConnect or forgot your password, call 763-506-HELP (4357) or email 506help@ahschools.us. For questions about the MCA report or for printing accommodations, please contact the main office at your child’s school.
How to view the MCA report from A-HConnect (view detailed instructions):
Login to A-HConnect.
Click on the ‘My Student Information/ParentVUE’ icon.
Select a student from the dropdown menu.
Select ‘Documents.’
Select and view ‘MCA 2023’ from the ‘Documents’ window.
The report will open as a PDF in a new tab where the capabilities to download or print will be available.
View from the ParentVUE app (view detailed instructions):
Go to the AppStore or Google Play and search for the ParentVUE app.
Enter your zip code when prompted, and select “Anoka-Hennepin School District” from the menu options.
Confirm ‘yes’ and select ‘Already Activated,’ if prompted.
Use login/password to login.
Select a student from the student list.
Select ‘Documents.’
Select and view the ‘Assessment MCA 2023’ document.
Click the share button to save or share the PDF.
Above & Beyond Award Nominations are Being Accepted
Nominations will be accepted now through January 22
If you know an Anoka-Hennepin staff member who does amazing work for children, you’re strongly encouraged to nominate them for the Above & Beyond Awards. The Above & Beyond Awards involve students, staff, parents and community members in recognizing and honoring Anoka-Hennepin staff who consistently go that extra mile so students can be successful.
Nominations are being accepted through Monday, Jan. 22, 2024.

The program is a joint effort of the district and the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation (AHEF). The 2024 Above & Beyond Awards ceremony will take place April 3 at the Educational Service Center (ESC).

Joe Beckman, author and co-founder of TILL360, joined Liz Burgard on the Parent Engage 360 Podcast to share more about the Power of Human Connection.
Joe was the keynote speaker on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Coon Rapids High School to kick off the 2023-24 Parent Engage 360 Parent Education Series. Joe delivered a high-energy presentation about the importance of human connection.

Joe and Liz provide a recap of topics covered at the Dec. 5 Parent Engage 360 event held at Coon Rapids High School.

Joe shared resources, including two helpful exercises families can engage with their children at home to help create healthy habits with technology.
The Parent Engage 360 Podcast aims to provide parents and guardians with knowledge from experts in chemical health, mental health, internet safety and more, as well as the tools needed to support their children. Anoka-Hennepin hopes that providing timely and helpful information through the Parent Engage 360 podcast series will strengthen the bond between school and home with resources parents and guardians can use and share with others.
District to Host Hiring Event for Non-Teaching Positions
Hiring Event at Coon Rapids High School, January 25
The Anoka-Hennepin School District will host an in-person hiring event for non-teaching positions on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 3:30-6 p.m. at Coon Rapids High School located at 2340 Northdale Blvd. NW.
Attendees should park in the parking lot off Raven St. and enter the activities entrance of the school using Door 16.
