Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well and that you had a joyous and restful Thanksgiving break with your friends and families. As we bid farewell to the Thanksgiving festivities, it's time to welcome our students back to school with enthusiasm and eagerness for the remainder of the semester.

The break was a wonderful opportunity for our students to recharge, spend time with loved ones, and reflect on the things they are grateful for. Now, we're excited to embark on this final stretch of the semester together. We have a lot in store for our students in the upcoming weeks. We have planned engaging lessons, exciting events, and meaningful activities that will encourage our students to finish the Semester on a high note.

We encourage you to continue supporting your children in their academic journey. Your involvement and encouragement play a vital role in their success.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Together, let's make the rest of this academic year an enriching and fulfilling experience for our students.

This impromptu store is primarily for students who usually cannot shop for the holidays. It allows students to come and choose items to "buy" and wrap to give to their families this holiday season.

PLEASE consider searching your home for ANY gently used or new items you do not need or want and bring them to AMS by December 15th.

ANY and ALL items are welcome! You'd be surprised what the students choose!

CORE Door Decorating Contest

Winter Themed

• Wednesday, December 6th: Early Release Day.- Draft Agenda
  
• Friday, December 15th: Student Council Dance
• Monday, December 18th: AMS Winter Concerts
• Tuesday, December 19th: SNOW DAY AMS Winter Concerts
• Wednesday, December 20th: Door decorating Judging and Final Results
• Friday December 22nd - Monday January 2nd: Christmas/ Holiday Break
• Monday, January 22nd: Teacher Workshop - No Students

A few weeks ago our community was stunned by the events that took place in Lewiston, Maine. Many of us and our students were affected by this shooting. To help out, I have created a basketball tournament where staff and students can compete with and against each other and raise funds to help offset costs for victims. All proceeds will go directly to the victims.

The tourney is a 20 dollar buy-in per team and there will be a donation box in the office as well for those who do not wish to play but wish to contribute.

December 8th

The games will take place afterschool on Fridays from 2:30- 3:45.

This year, we are:

1. Organizing Dances: 1/19/24 and 3/29 then the 8th Grade Semi Formal near 6/9/24
2. Thanksgiving Turkey Trop: Friday, November 17th. Raises funds to send students to summer camp.
3. Teacher Appreciation each Month but focusing on May 8th - 12th.
4. Various CORE competitions

Safety is our first priority. This is why we have high expectations for student behaviors. It is why we train to evacuate and we train for intruders. Every staff member has multiple ways to access administration and are capable of making emergency calls as needed.

• All the doors are locked all the time, external and internal

• Hard wired phones in each room

• Cameras that are observed

• Secure front entrance

• Badged staff

• Practice safety measures

• Staff members every 10 feet in the building

• We do not have unannounced visitors

• Bates mentors are trained and have background checks

• Staff have multiple communication devices to contact others for immediate assistance

• Reminder of rules around personal technology at school (Cell Phones)
