FAQ's
As you know, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins ordered residents of Dallas County to "shelter-in-place," effective 11:59 p.m. on March 23. Many of you may have questions as to what this may mean for you, as these are unprecedented times. The Town received clarification from Judge Jenkins' office and a flyer has been compiled with answers to some of these questions. Should you have additional questions, it is highly encouraged that you reach out to Town staff. See the FAQ flyer below.
Town staff is participating in daily briefings with County and State emergency management personnel to remain up to date on the latest information pertaining to the situation. Today, 14 new cases of the virus were reported, down from 24 the day before.
Continue practicing social distancing of at least six feet. Please ensure you observe this order when utilizing Town recreational areas, such as trails and parks.
Town staff available to help residents
Although Town Hall is closed to the public, key staff remain working to ensure continuity of services, while observing social distancing requirements.
Utility payments can be made online or by dropping a check in our drop box in front of Town Hall. Court payments can also be made online or dropped in our drop box. Both departments are returning phone calls if you need to speak to a staff member. The Developmental Services Department is staffed. Please call (972) 203-4169 to arrange for permits if needed.
Public Works staff remain working with staggered shifts for emergency response - as do our first responders. Solid Waste pick up also continues.
Please let us know if you need assistance. Contact information is listed at the bottom of the newsletter. Stay safe!
Special request from Republic Services regarding trash pick up
The Town of Sunnyvale and Republic Services would like to thank our residents for their patience and understanding while crews work diligently to collect the additional curbside trash generated with so many families practicing social distancing at home.
During this time we would like to remind our residents to please bag all curbside trash to keep crews safe while handling household waste.
To protect garbage collection crews, please place all trash in tightly secured plastic bags.
Please:
- Do not place trash in boxes or other unsecured receptacles.
- Do not place trash into any type of container. Only trash bags are acceptable curbside.
To protect recycling crews:
- Please continue to place your recycle materials loosely into your recycle bins.
- Please DO NOT bag your recycle materials. It takes additional work for recycling crews to de-bag these materials. De-bagging materials can also pose a health risk to employees.
