Message from the Principal
Happy Friday Findley Families!
Thank you so much for showering us with your appreciation this week. What a treat to see all the videos, pictures and emails of gratitude for the work we do with your kids. Also, we thoroughly enjoyed our teacher appreciation luncheon and the opportunity to socialize for just a bit, from a safe distance, of course.
I hope everyone enjoyed today’s virtual assembly check-in. We have some really talented, and funny, students and teachers at Findley! Keep watching our weekly installments to learn about ways your kiddos can participate. Each week we are trying to come up with new and exciting ways for our kids to be a part of our weekly school-wide connections.
There will be lots of information coming out in the next couple of weeks regarding the end -of-year and your opportunity to pick-up student belongings. Stay tuned to more information soon.
In the meantime, stay safe and healthy. Miss you all!
Have a great weekend~
Sherry Marsh, Ed.D

Aftering opening one of these sites in Chrome, click (or touch) that little star on the right side of the address line.
Once you click (or touch) the star you will get a window asking where you want to store the bookmark. I suggest you store it on the Bookmark Bar which should be the default location.
After clicking Done the star fills in and your bookmark will be on listed on the Bookmark Bar located below the Address Line
Next time you open Chrome you only need to click on the bookmark. You can do this for any site you visit often.

Safe Routes to School
Dear Findley Parents and Guardians,
It’s data collection time again for Beaverton’s Safe Routes to School program. The purpose of this program is to make walking and biking to school safe, convenient and fun.
Parent’s and guardian’s input into how students travel to and from schools and their impression of the safety of the route is valuable as the city and county prioritize needed improvements for our roads. The following link was generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center and will be used to give us a good picture of how students are getting to and from schools throughout the district.
The school’s survey will be open for responses until May 31.
We appreciate your help in giving us information to make our program effective for all Beaverton School District students.
Thank you,
Leah Biado-Luis

Friday Check In
For families concerned that their children are missing out on academic content, remember that at a time like this, less is more. I encourage you to broaden your definition of learning and focus on playtime, downtime, and family time.”
Dr. Denise Pope, Co-Founder at Challenge Success
In her article A Message to Families during Covid-19 From a Stanford Educator Dr. Pope stresses the importance of building strong family relationships and connections within your community. In terms of remote learning honor, as best, you can, what the school is asking you to do but if the workload feels like too much be sure to advocate for your child and your home situation.
Supporting the social emotional skills of resilience, collaboration, flexibility and positive coping in partnership with engagement in learning is one way to support your child(ren). Some things to consider as you work on establishing and maintaining routines:
Reading for pleasure
Personal interest projects
Social time
Family time
Chores
Service
Exercise
Good sleep
Sensible screen time
In establishing these routines your child will be gaining the life skills necessary to thrive both in and out of the classroom. Take care of each other, practice gratitude, and remember we are in this together. If you need support in helping your child please reach out to us at Findley. We are here to help.
