Reaching New Heights
February 2023
Congaree families,
It is February and we've got a lot of things going on...Black History Month, School Counselors Appreciation, Bus Driver Appreciation, School Resource Officer Appreciation, Random Acts of Kindness, College and Career Day, and PTO Bingo Night. Whew! We didn't even name some of the other events happening. Check Dojo, social media, and the Weekly Parent Communications for more information.
We are still cruising along and we continue to make progress as a school. Our students have completed our Winter Star testing in Math and Reading and many of them have made high growth in their learning. We are celebrating our students for their growth in learning. Teachers should be sending home a Star Parent Report that shows a glimpse of how students are progressing during the school year based on their Star test. If you need help understanding the Star Parent Report, please reach out to your child's teacher. Also, be on the lookout for interim report cards that will go out on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
We thank you for all that you do and appreciate your support. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns about the school.
Respectfully,
Christopher K. Dickey

National Children’s Dental Health Month
Cavities, also known as caries or tooth decay, are one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood, yet cavities are preventable. Children who have poor oral health often miss more school and receive lower grades than children who don’t. Untreated cavities can cause pain, infections, and can lead to problems eating. Good oral care in children is essential to starting a healthy lifetime habit. Children should brush their teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled child sized toothbrush and a pea-size amount of fluoride toothpaste using a circular motion.
If you need assistance in making a dental appointment, please contact Nurse Ginny.
