Boys Soccer Preps for Home Stretch

Hewitt-Trussville Boys Soccer will close the regular season over the next week. The Huskies play at Spain Park on Tuesday April 19, then will host the Jaguars on Monday April 25 in the final two Area games of the season. The Huskies are currently 2nd in 7A Area 6. The top two teams from the Area will make the playoffs.

Last week, the Huskies defeated Gadsden City 4-0 in an Area matchup. Brooks Bilodeau, Cameron Bonner, Ethan Williamson, and Cason Cook all found the back of the net. Later in the week, HT defeated Pinson Valley 3-2.

Girls Soccer Enters Final Week of Regular Season

Hewitt-Trussville Girls Soccer is in playoff contention as the regular season enters its final week. The Huskies will travel to Spain Park on Tuesday April 19 and will host Spain Park on Monday April 25.

Last week, the Huskies defeated Gadsden City 5-0 in an Area match. Julia Farris scored a pair of goals. Jocelyn Davis, Avery Huffstutler, and Libby Armstrong also scored.

Jeremy Monceaux Named Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach
On April 14, 2022, Jeremy Monceaux was approved as the Head Varsity Boys Basketball coach at Hewitt-Trussville High School. Monceaux is the one of the all-time leading scorers in AHSAA history and was part of a NCAA Division 1 Tournament team during his time as a player at Liberty University.
Monceaux said, "I am humbled and beyond excited to represent Hewitt-Trussville High School and the Trussville Community as its head basketball coach. I want to thank Superintendent Dr. Pattie Neill, HTHS Principal Mr. Tim Salem, Athletic Director Mr. Lance Walker and the Trussville City Schools Board of Education for this tremendous opportunity. I am confident that we can build a program that will compete at the highest levels of basketball in our state, while also creating a fun and exciting experience for our student-athletes. There is a lot to do, and I look forward to getting the work started!"
During the 2021-2022 season, Monceaux was the Head Varsity coach at Springville High School. Competing at the 6A level, the Tigers finished with a 25-6 overall record and won the regular season area title. Monceaux's team advanced to the postseason competing in the sub-regional round of the State Tournament losing to eventual 6A runner-up Huffman in a close contest. His team won the St. Clair County Tournament and the Gadsden Christmas Classic during the season as well.
Monceaux was the Varsity Head Coach at Clay-Chalkville High School from 2014-2021. In seven seasons, the Cougars advanced to the playoffs six times and won five Area titles. Monceaux is the all-time wins leader in school history, and led his team to the Elite 8 in 2021, which was the school's first-ever appearance.
During Coach Monceaux's eight-year tenure as a high school head coach, he has developed nine players who went on to play at the NCAA D1, D2 and junior college levels.
Monceaux also has coaching experience at the collegiate level. From 2011-2014, he served as an assistant coach at Faulkner University. The Eagles had an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16.
From 2009-2011 Monceaux was an assistant coach at Campbellsville University in Kentucky. The 2009-2010 team won the Mid-South Conference for the first time in school history.
Monceaux was an assistant coach at Shelton State Community College from 2008-2009, where he saw the team win a region title and advance to the Sweet 16 round at the NJCAA D1 National Tournament.
Trussville City Schools Athletic Director Lance Walker said, "I am excited about the future of Hewitt-Trussville Basketball. Jeremy is a relationship-oriented coach who has a history of maximizing his teams' potential. The people I spoke with about Jeremy talked about his high level of integrity and knack for connecting with his students. I am excited Jeremy and his family are on our team, and I look forward to supporting him as we move forward."
Monceaux was a prolific scorer in high school at Parkway Christian scoring 4,555 career points which is the second-most for any AHSAA player all-time. He scored 1,333 points in a single year, and is also 4th all-time in career assists with 1,035.
After high school, Monceaux played for Liberty University from 2002-2006 where he was part of the 2003-2004 team that played in the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Tournament.
Monceaux is a graduate of the University of Alabama and resides in Trussville with his wife Madeline Shaw Monceaux (13 Years) and they have two children, McKinsey Grace (8) and Mason James (4).
HTHS and HTMS Boys Basketball Tryout Information
Tryout dates have been set for the 2022-2023 HTHS and HTMS Boys Basketball teams.
HTHS tryouts are open to rising 9th-12th grade TCS students. Tryouts will be held in the HTHS Gym May 23 and May 25. Rising Freshmen will be from 4:00pm-5:45pm. Rising Sophomores-Seniors will be from 6:00pm-7:45pm. Questions regarding HTHS Boys Basketball tryouts should be directed to jeremy.monceaux@gmail.com.

Baseball Hosts Spain Park Tuesday Night
Hewitt-Trussville Baseball will host Spain Park on Tuesday night as the teams enter the final week of the regular season. First pitch is set for 6pm. The Huskies will travel to Spain Park on Thursday night.

Outdoor Track & Field: Mountain Brook Invitational Recap
Hewitt-Trussville Outdoor Track & Field traveled to the Mountain Brook Invitational over the weekend. The HT Boys finished 2nd out of 29 teams and the HT Girls finished 4th out of 31 teams.

Softball Recap from Berry Strong Invitational
Hewitt-Trussville Softball traveled to Daphne this weekend and went 3-1 in the Berry Strong Invitational. The Huskies are now 32-4-1 overall on the season.
HT 7 Orange Beach 6
Kenleigh Cahalan was 1-2 with three RBI's and a run scored.
HT 5 Baker 3
Riley Rudick was 2-3 and scored twice. She also added a RBI.
HT 4 Mobile Christian 1
Sara Phillips picked up the win and allowed just one hit. Hannah Dorsett had two hits and scored twice.
Fairhope 7 HT 5
Riley Rudick was 2-4 with three RBI's.
HT Softball Schedule/Results:
Tennis Finishes 4th at Sectionals
The HT Boys Tennis and Girls Tennis teams finished 4th at the 7A Section 3 Tournament last week. The HT Boys finished the season with a 12-7 overall record and the HT Girls finished with a 12-5 overall record.
Josh Blake, Nolan Armstrong, Drew Gardner, and Griffin Greenhaw all advanced to the semifinals. Blake/Gardner, Armstrong/Armstrong, and Holley/Greenhaw all advanced to the doubles semifinals.
Yasmin Fisher, Anna Hill, Anna Blake, Allie Claire Monski, and Talia Talley all advanced to the semifinals. Fisher/Monski and Bryant/Monski advanced to the doubles semifinals.

Bowling Tryout Information
Hewitt-Trussville Bowling is set to host tryouts for the 2022-2023 season. Tryouts will be held May 10-12 from 3:45pm-5:15pm at Sparetime in Trussville. Rising 7th grade-12th grade TCS are eligible to tryout. Hewitt-Trussville will field a middle school team and high school team next season.

School athletic physicals will take place on May 13, 2022 at Hewitt-Trussville Stadium. Students wishing to participate in athletics that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2022-2023 school year should attend.

MS Baseball Finishes 2nd at Metro Tournament
The HTMS Baseball team finished the 2022 season over the weekend with a 2nd place finish at the Metro Tournament.
HT 6 Oxford 1
Harrison Malone, Taylor Alfano, and Brady Ryan all had multiple hits as the Huskies won the tournament opener. Jake Echols threw five innings to pick up the win.
HT 6 Thompson 5
The Huskies took down #1 seed Thompson in the semifinals. Harrison Malone had three hits and scored twice. Will Miller had two hits and three RBI's.
Oak Mountain 5 HT 3
The Huskies fell to Oak Mountain in the championship game. Taylor Alfano and Wes Hardy had two hits each.
