September is Attendance Awareness Month!
It’s Attendance Awareness Month – We want all students here at Holcomb Bridge MS to feel CONNECTED to school, ENGAGED in learning, and ACHIEVING success! Our attendance goal for every Hawk is to maintain a 95% attendance rate or higher. That means you should have no more than 8 absences this entire school year.
Let’s work together to achieve this goal, Hawks! We are here for you each and every day and we want you here with us! Regular daily attendance is key to your success at school. Just 2 absences a month can lead to chronic absenteeism. Do your best to attend every day! Positive attendance is important for your learning. Please tell your teacher if you need help or support with attending school.

Live College Prep for HBMS Families on Sept. 26
HBMS has a new opportunity for parents and families to build their knowledge of the college admissions process as your students get closer to high school.
Parent Prep 101 educates people on paths to college. Trish Caputo, founder of Parent Prep 101, offers a webinar for parents of 7th and 8th graders that gives a timeline and info on what to expect over the next several years, explains what students can do now to prepare for college application, and how to earn free tuition.
She'll talk about AP classes, GAfutures, HOPE grants and scholarships, when to take the PSAT, SAT and ACT, athlete recruiting, and more. There will be a Q&A session. After, you'll get access to a Facebook group for additional info and resources.
The live webinar for HBMS is Tuesday, Sept. 26 at noon and 7 pm. Registration is $55 per family and $10 will be given back to our PTA.
Registration is now open. Please send questions to Trish at 678-777-7141 or parentprep101@gmail.com

7th Grade MAP Testing
NWEA's MAP Growth test is a computer-adaptive test that measures skills in Reading and Math. As students answer questions correctly or incorrectly, the test adjusts the level of difficulty based on individual performance. Students' results can be made available upon request once scores are back from the vendor.
MAP Growth is a nationally normed assessment, which provides schools with performance norms by utilizing data from more than 10 million U.S. students. Teachers can use the results to help inform instruction, personalize learning, and monitor the growth of individual students. Administrators can use the results to help see the performance and progress of a grade level, school, or the entire district. MAP Growth is not used as a part of a student's grade. MAP Growth can be used as a criterion for TAG eligibility.
