Queen of Apostles School
Term 2 Week 3 - Thursday 11 May 2023
Mother's Day Prayer
God our creator,
We come before You and lift up in prayer all mothers,
grandmothers and mothers to be, who gave the gift of life.
We give you thanks for their presence,
talents and gifts which they share in our church, society and world.
May all mothers know of Your loving and gentle presence
and may they always turn towards You in times of joy, sorrow and glory.
We ask this in Your Name.
Amen
Mother's Day Breakfast
We are expecting a big crowd at the Mother's Day Breakfast tomorrow morning in the undercover area from 7.30 until 8.30am.
I would like to thank the P&F for organising the breakfast. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes and without these dedicated people, events like this wouldn't happen. I would also like to thank the dads who volunteered to set up, cook, serve and clean up.
I look forward to a fun morning!
Mother’s Day Stall
The P&F are running a Mother’s Day gift stall tomorrow. Students will be able to choose from a great selection of gifts ranging from $1 to $5 - cash only.
Each of the classes will take turns to buy their gifts with any leftovers being sold at lunchtime.
Dads, make sure you’ve got some coins/cash handy so your children can get mum a wonderful surprise for their special day.
Cross Country
Tomorrow afternoon (12th May) we are holding the Faction Cross Country carnival for our Year 3’s to 6’s here at school. Spectators are welcome.
The Yr 3’s and 4’s run 1.0km, and the Yr 5’s and 6’s run 1.5km. Students need to wear their faction-coloured polo shirts, sports shorts and sports shoes. The carnival will also include a parents, toddlers and teachers’ ‘Fun Run/Walk’ (500m) that will earn points for their faction.
The first race is at 1.00pm. We hope to see you there!
Littlies Lapathon
Next Friday (19th May) the Littlies Lapathon for our Kindy to Year 2 students is being held on the Annexe Oval from 2 to 3pm. Mr Bridgeman does a wonderful job of organising the lapathon and this year will be no exception.
The P&F will have icy poles available for the students to purchase for $1. Let’s hope the weather is favourable.
I look forward to seeing our parent community at the lapathon next Friday afternoon.

Free RATS!
Last year, when COVID was prevalent in the community, CEWA and the WA government provided schools with cartons of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) to distribute free of charge to families.
Whilst many families did collect their allocation of tests, we still have many boxes left which will be expiring this year.
Although reporting is no longer required, COVID is still circulating and we have had a number of cases reported to us by school families. Therefore, RAT testing is still relevant and encouraged.
If you would like a box of RATs for your family, please collect them from the school office.
Enrolment Applications
We have commenced interviews for 2025 PreKindy and Kindy.
- If you have a child born between 1st July 2020 and 30th June 2021, they can be enrolled for Kindy 2025.
- Children can attend PreKindy once they have turned 3 years of age, but your application can be lodged at any time prior to this.
Applications can be forwarded by email and must include the Application for Enrolment form, Pre-Enrolment Interview form, plus copies of birth certificate and baptism certificate (if Catholic). If neither parent was born in Australia, copies of visas or citizenship certificates for parents and the child are also required.
Please note that separate enrolment forms are required for Pre-Kindy and Kindy and there is a $25.00 Application Fee payable for each application.
We urge families to lodge applications as soon as possible
to secure an interview during Term 2.

Footy Tipping Competition – Round 8
A big congratulations to Tom Eardley for winning Round 8 of the Queenies Footy Tipping Competition. This is the second time Tom has won tipper of the week with a perfect round and lowest margin.
Get Involved and Make a Difference
The P&F is calling on year groups to take on organising an event or activity this year. There are also other activities that require the support of volunteers to run, and sub-committees will be established for larger whole school events/fundraisers.
P&F class representatives have been provided with an EOI form and we encourage parents to talk to their class reps about getting involved. Expressions of Interest close on 17 May 2023.
Your P&F class representatives:
Kindy: Aislinn Trodden & Kerrie Condon
Pre-Primary: Michelle Desker & Yikchuang (YC) Tang

Parent Survey
The P&F committee is conducting a short survey to identify which topics would be most relevant and helpful to parents for our upcoming parent information seminars or workshops. Your feedback is important to us. Please take a moment to complete our quick parent survey. Thank you.
